byu to big 12Moderators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: byu to big 12If indeed Louisville and Cincinnati bolt does the Big East collapse or do the remaining teams try to patch it back together?
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: byu to big 12First mentioned in my secret conference thread. SMTT - thinking people start raiding the Big East. They don't appear to have the leadership to work between the basketball and football schools.
Re: byu to big 12My two cents is that the Big East would be finished as a BCS football conference if Louisville and Cincinnati leave. There are just not enough quality candidates out there to backfill that large of a hole. Plus UConn and Rutgers have all but made it clear that they want in to the ACC.

Re: byu to big 12I agree. I think the departure of Louisville and Cincinnati would only expedite the process of UConn and Rutgers to the ACC. If that happens then the Big East is done. WVU goes SEC after that and TCU is doing anything they possibly can to get into the Big 12. However, if the Big 12 has already added BYU, Louisville, and Cincinnati they won't have anywhere to go but back to the MWC.
If indeed TCU ends up back in the MWC, SMU needs to do everything they can to either A) join the MWC or B) push for the CUSA-MWC alliance. If you could add SMU, Houston, and UTEP to the MWC, it would look like this: Hawaii, San Diego State, Fresno State, Boise State, Nevada, , Wyoming, New Mexico, SMU, TCU, Houston, UTEP, Colorado State Back off Warchild seriously.
byu to big 12
I wish I had #TCUPAINS right now "This is . . . dedication to distraction by fans. Is that what I'm going to go with Jay?"

Re: byu to big 12The weather of this whole realignment thing changes every 15 minutes. . .but right now I would say its as likely as any other scenario that BYU, Louisville, and Cincinnati go to the Big 12. The Big 12 has to expand to survive and those are really the only attractive programs available unless they acquire Notre Dame (not gonna happen) or take schools from Texas (not gonna happen). At that point, the Big East will be toast. I agree that UConn and Rutgers will push with all their might to get into the ACC. I'm not convinced, however, that the ACC is interested in taking them right now. Likewise, I do not see WVA going to the SEC. The SEC appears to have zero interest in WVA, and I can understand that from their perspective. Even if Mizzou sticks with the Big 12, I don't see the SEC as being so desperate to get to 14 that they will settle for a WVA program they aren't at all excited about.
Assuming all of those moving parts come to pass, that would put the remaining Big East schools in an absolutely terrible position. TCU can at least go back to the MWC or align with the other non-BCS Texas schools. Not great for them, but really all it does is keep the status quo in place for the Frogs. They don't actually take a step backwards. For WVA, UConn, Rutgers, and USF, however, that scenario is a total disaster. Assuming the ACC and SEC don't budge, I am scratching my head to figure out what any of those schools would do. It certainly wouldn't be BCS.
Re: byu to big 12Any chance B12 surprises everyone by expanding to 16.
Lock down the 3 priority ones first then add three more that you know will quickly say yes?
Re: byu to big 12
I was under the impression Uof L and Cincy are not the most prestigious academic institutions. If this is true has UT changed their tune about upholding academic standards in the BIg 12-3? Or is the tune now, anything goes as long as UT keeps the LHN? GO MUSTANGS!
Re: byu to big 12the big 12 and acc really did a number on the big east. i guess that was the plan.
south fla really is in a big time bind. i'm not sure cusa would take them but i guess they would if we go to 22. uconn wvu and rutgers aren't in much better shape. i don't know what they are going to do. not much left around them. unconn wvu and tcu might be able to form a nucleus of a new conference. i just don't know. Re: byu to big 12I think UT just wants to get to 12 teams regardless of academic prestige.
Back off Warchild seriously.
