Maybe a dumb question, but...

Postby Junior » Sat Oct 01, 2011 11:33 pm

...did Beas being out help us out somehow?

I completely understand that Beas is one of our best (if not the best) on our squad, but they knew that, too. With Beas out, the took a potential double off him and played the safety back in a lot of situations. The softer coverage seemed to leave people a little bit more open since they didn't seem to know who the "guy" was going to be this game in the beginning. They finally realized it was going to be DJ3 and Thompson on the deep routes quite a bit, but it seemed to play in our favor at the beginning.

Thoughts?

please don't misinterpret this. i'm not saying we're a better team without Beas. i just think in the beginning they didn't know who was going to be the guy this week which left us a little more open than we may have been.

but i could be wrong.

I agree with you Junior...they didn't know we would go to, and it also made JJ think about who to actually throw to....

Jeremy Johnson is a Gamer! He may not be it in practice but some guys go freaky when the stsadium lights go on. He was one of the most dominant High school QB's I ever saw. Why is he not returning punts?

What happened on the bomb to Derr'ick Thompson-I was surprised they overruled the call of a catch on the field

i think he had it on his hip when he hit the ground and they thought he never had posession. Anyone who saw at home can help with replay chatter?

He didnt have complete control as it rolled onto his hip as he went down. Could've gone either way but they probably got it right.

I thought they clearly made the right call on replay.

I had the same thought on this. JJ has been good about at least tacitly going through his reads, but then almost always dumped back to Beas, whether he was the best choice or not. Now he really needs to look at the whole picture and has more than one guy he can hit. I think not having that bail-out option has made him run the offense as a whole better. That being said, I can't wait for Beasley to get back!

It was very clear that he didn't have possession. They made the right call
