La. Tech game tomorrow

Postby Johnny Rock » Fri Oct 15, 2004 9:22 am

I do not know much about La. Tech's team this year. But I do know La. Tech is able to recruit different players than SMU. It does not surprise me that SMU is almost a ten point underdog at home to an unranked school in its own conference. La. Tech will have numerous players tomorrow night that SMU could not even get accepted into its school because of its admission policies. If SMU would adopt a similar admission policy for its athletes then maybe we would have some of those type players and would not be in the current state we are in. If SMU only wins 1 game this season, then maybe it will be a step in getting those restrictions removed even more. Moats for La. Tech played locally and will likely be the best player on the field tomorrow assuming he is healthy. Question...did SMU attempt to recruit him? It is another example of local high school players SMU missed out on for one reason or another to return to play us on another team. The best players are in our own back yard but SMU continues to miss on them. Why? Does anyone have an answer? Another alarming fact is that Bennett does not have one QB commited for next year. Bennett better hustle before all of the QBs are taken.

SMU strung him along until late in the recruiting season when he committed to LaTech. I don't think-but I'm not sure-we ever offered. On the other hand not many did.

I know they have seven players on defense that have already graduated.(or exhausted their eligibility) They average twenty two and a half years of age, and four of them are TWENTY FOUR YEARS OLD!!!!!!

Doesn't surprise me one bit. If we can contain their running game, then we have a chance of competiting with them. I also would like to see at least one half of football from SMU without any turnovers.
