Easiest Path to a BCS game1. Win the Big East (3-5 non-Conference losses acceptable, plus 2-3 conference losses in a given year)
2. Go undefeated as a mid-major, but be ahead of the Big East Champ (Boise, TCU, TCU/Boise, Utah, Utah) 3. Come in 2nd in the ACC 4/5. Come in 2nd in the Pac12/Big10 6. Come in 2nd in the Big12-2 (*-unknown quantity though) 7/8. Win the PAC12 or B1G 9. Come in 2nd in the SEC 10. Win the ACC 11. Win the Big12-2 12. Win the SEC
Re: Easiest Path to a BCS gameAre there any options that involve losing?
Re: Easiest Path to a BCS game
Option #7/8 needs to switch places with #11!
Re: Easiest Path to a BCS gameYou think it's easier to win the B12 than the Pac12?
Easiest Path to a BCS game
Not having a championship game helps a bit I guess.
Re: Easiest Path to a BCS gameSwitch numbers 9 and 10.
Multiple times over the past few of years the ACC champ has been beaten by an SEC team. Example: When GT beat Clemson in the ACC Championship game, USC beat Clemson and UGA beat GT.
Re: Easiest Path to a BCS gamePerhaps, wouldn't argue it.
ACC is the weakest of the Big4, and barely above MWC in the ESPN rankings. MWC > Big East
Re: Easiest Path to a BCS game
Actually, it's EASIER to win the ACC than come in 2nd in the SEC. Still need to switch?
Re: Easiest Path to a BCS gameYeah, that's what I'm saying.
According to your rankings isn't 10 supposed to be harder than 9?
Re: Easiest Path to a BCS gameMy bad. Should have reversed the order to avoid author confusion.
Re b12 w/o champ game, it's an asterisk bc it's possible for any of 3 teams in a ch game conference to get 2 bids, but in big12 we know who the top 2 are. Ex: bama lsu are 1/2, and will Play sec east for ch. Which 2 go? What if sec e wins?
Re: Easiest Path to a BCS gameKind of funny that the Big 12 is the No. 1 ranked conference in the Country right now according to Sagarin

Re: Easiest Path to a BCS gameI don't understand why it says that you have to finish with a higher ranking than the Big East champion. I learned a LOT about the BCS rules when Hawaii was making its run in 2007. To get an automatic BCS bowl spot as a non-AQ school, you need:
1. Be the highest ranked non-AQ school. 2. Be in the top 12 in the BCS standings. You only need to be ahead of the Big East (or ACC) champion if the non-AQ team is ranked between 13-16. You can get picked as an at-large team if you are the 2nd highest ranked non-AQ school, but that has only happened once (BSU, Fiesta Bowl, when TCU was ranked higher than them). http://www.collegefootballpoll.com/bcs_explained.html
Re: Easiest Path to a BCS gameHey pony fans. As a big east guy, I'm starting to get to know your program a little bit more since it appears to be a team to watch as the the conference carousel turns. After the TCU game, SMU suddenly became a much more respected name on the big sites. I wonder tho - as unbiased as SMU fans could be why and why not should they be in an AQ conference like the big east.
these are the ones I have so far http://bit.ly/n6GAGh And on a side note... Does SMU want the BE? If yes does SMU want BE with an instate institution branded as there rival {Houston} Thanks for the feed back tuck
