"The refusal of the presidents and chancellors to increase the exit fee is another challenge to the league trying to survive the departure of TCU, Pittsburgh and Syracuse and with the possibility of other members leaving to other conferences."

"Marinatto’s email also to league leaders indicated that the Big East "will also be prepared to discuss potential legal strategies in the wake of the departures of Pittsburgh and Syracuse."

BE missed an opportunity to be more attractive to Navy, AFA and Boise. Raises more concerns on stability of conference. New members want certainty, not more losses in membership.

I get the stability aspect, I really do. Navy doesn't need to be in an AQ conference. Other than that why would SMU, UH, ECU, UCF, Temple, etc. turn down an invite to the BE because of stability. All can go back to their original conference or form another non-AQ league. Getting into an AQ conference is the hard part, not getting out of one. I for one do not care about stability.

For 7 million bucks......you want to be sure the BE is still going to be there.

They'll be there long enough.

$7 million is not a big deal b/c the Big East revenues are so much higher than CUSA.
Some people simply forget just how bad it was...

7 million to some schools is a big deal if you leave your conference, pay your 7 million and then the BE dies after or before the 1st year.
