Just wondering if the AD even gives a [deleted] that nobody comes to the games>

Is he and his staff completely indifferent to this issue? What is he waiting for? 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

So does Orsini use his limited resources to get an extra 3,000 in the stands (or 18,000 per year) or does he get us into a better conference (with more than 3x the money we now get)?

I guess to some the extra folks a few more folks in the stands is the prime objective. Sure Orsini doesn't have the staff to do it but what the heck?

But Orsini does have the staff to make a deal that gets us into a better conference.

So - it is Steve Orsini and his crack staff that is behind all the conference realignment and SMU's potential inclusion in the Big LEast - a conference that may not even have AQ status?

How about this .... he is about as proactive as the C-USA commissioner finally getting the picture and finally looking to merge with MWC after all this time.

Orsini is alot of things. A deal maker he is not>

ABC owns the BSC. ABC owns ESPN. Does any moron think for a second that ABC is going to let the #1 (NYC), #4 (Philly) and #5 (Dallas) TV market loose AQ status? The Big East has the potential to own 3 of the top 5 TV markets and 4 of the top 10.

Does anyone think that ABC, which makes its money off available viewing market, think for a millisecond that ABC will allow tens of millions of viewers to lose their top teams' status?

Does anyone thing UConn, WVU and USF were major national media draws? Hades no, It was because these teams were in strategic media markets. Money, not football reputations drives this bus.

TV drives the Big East. It is why it was granted AQ status in the first place. ABC has a huge finical interest in holding those major viewing markets.

Otter, honest question. You seem to know orsini well. How do you know him and have you shared these views with him in a reasoned manner or has your communication with him been as insulting as the things you say about him on here?

Just trying to understand your connection.

As far as ridiculous post are concerned, I used to think Stallion and Nick took the prize when they get on their recruiting rants. Although I do not always agree with them, those two actually make valid points. Then last week, ModelT soared to the top of the most annoying list. His climb was impressive as he climbed to the top of my list in one week. But then he acknowledge that his feelings regarding realignment were a bit odd and apologized.

Otter, you good sir have surpassed them all in a matter of hours. I don't believe Steve O is perfect, but the man's finger prints are all over two programs' rises from football obscurity to BCS teams. You refer to his crack staff, but you seem to be the one smoking crack.

But like Stallion, Nick, and even ModelT have redeemed themselves in my eyes, I suspect you can do the same. So I ask you to enlighten us with your brilliance. Give us your God ordained plan to achieve attendance success. How can SMU do what it struggled to do in the SWC during the Pony Express days and get 35,000+ paying SMU fans into the stands? I only ask because as we have seen here, even if SMU is unwilling to implement a plan some of us will use our own resources for the benefit of the school.

When you stand back and look at where this football team is today compared to three years ago it is an amazing success story. I am far too elated with the progress these young guys have shown on the field to be harping about our bad attendance the day after a great win over last year's conference champion.

Those of of you who are old enough to remember "Mustang Mania" can tell the younger ones about how Russ Potts filled up the seats with non-paying fans, but when the free tickets ran out, we were back down to crowds in the 20Ks to see Dickerson, James, etc. Low attendance has been a chronic problem ever since pro sports came to Dallas. For years we relied on Longhorns, Aggies and Razorbacks to buy tickets for our games. We don't play them anymore and we are not going to see crowds like those again anytime soon. Get used to it.

Several weeks ago, in the DMNs, a guy commented on a SMU story with a vintage Otter diatribe. He blasted the lack of a marketing effort by the athletic department as well as taking personal shots at Orsini and Jones. Since the comments gave the guy's apparent real name, I looked him up. Turns out he is SMU faculty, a marketing professor at Cox. I wonder if this is Otter, with a big axe to grind.
