It is hard to believe things would have been any worse than they are today!

it's easy to forget how painful it was that last year of Cavan's regine when we were getting blown out regularly. Of course, that's been just about every year since 1989, hasn't it?

I would imagine Cavan is taking a certain satisfaction from seeing SMU football scores every week.

I can't recall the scores from that season, but which were blowouts. If memory serves correctly, that team wasn't exactly blown out regularly. I can recall a competitive Division 1 team, if not somewhat competitive.

There seems to be no chance to win a ballgame now.

I do remember Cavan's last game against North Carolina actually remaining a game until a late missed field goal sealed it for UNC and put them in a bowl game. At least UNC beat Miami today. Whether UNC wins out or loses every game by 39 this season, its safe to assume they've made progress with a win like that. We can't even sniff LaTech, Rice, Fresno, Highland Park, or Seagoville any longer.

Pitiful.

From what it looks like, there were no shutouts that year. There were some blowouts but we managed to at least put points on the board in every game.

Four games stand out as possible bricks in the case to fire Cavan; La Tech (the team just wasn't ready to play the opener.),Fresno, Nevada and most of all Hawaii, a game we seemed to have in hand at the half (like the Ole Miss game). We were competitive with NC State, a team on the rise. We were at the UNC game and saw a terrific effort. I haven't seen an effort by a Bennett team yet, that compares with those two and a few others. When Schumann had it dialed it on a defensive scheme, we were competitive with most teams we played.

This team just hasn't made any progress. Even if they are young, after a few games some experience usually takes over if there is talent and efort present. I don't think you can fire this guy. But something or someone needs to light a fire.
