Here's to the Mustangs' defense!

Postby Corso » Sun Nov 14, 2004 4:08 pm

Both starting DEs (Muse and Rogers) were out. Desmond Jones went out early with an injury. The LBs (again) included 2 converted safeties (Harris and Nnabuife - who was playing his second game at LB) and a true freshman. Harper moved from FS to SS, and we had a redshirt freshman (Sturdivant) at FS.

I'd say the Mustang D had a hell of a game.

Well, it's amazing what your defense can do when your offense actually scores points. 41 vs. Tulsa, 38 vs. Nevada. Yes, the players have stepped it up, and Nnabuife at linebacker has proved to be a flat-out brilliant move, but it also seems Gush's play calling has gotten markedly more agressive, forcing more turnovers, etc. This is easier to do when you're reasonably confident your team can score a few times. Until recently, our staff hasn't felt that way.

Any word on Desmond Jones's injury?

Or whether Justin Rogers can play next week?

Is Joe Sturdivant a redshirt?

I thought he played last year and would be a sophmore?

You are correct, Sturdivant is listed as a Sophomore on the roster.
