For all the admiration I had (and still have) for Keylon Kincade, I didn't see one game this year in which we tried the same RB left, RB right, RB up the middle scheme that nearly got KK killed last year. This year's offense was FAR more complex, which (along with the fact that Coach Burns' arrival means every single player on offense is in his first year in the system) dictates a longer period of growing pains while the kinks are worked out. That growing process will continue as more players are added. But the new elements to this offense, while not reflected in a huge increase in points, is shown by the improvement in yards per game and the number of looks we were able to throw at defenses.

The increase in points showed up in the last three games where it was obvious that the players were better in tune with the offensive schemes...and some of our recievers stepped up their performance. Last year everyone bitched and moaned about the lack of variety in play calling...we really couldn't do that this year. I think next year will be a much more exciting offense as the two deep will have more maturity and experience allowing the offensive schemes to be expanded. I too would love to see our TE's tearup the opposing defenses in the midle, but until our offensive line improves to the point of holding their own on pass protection, the TE's will be needed for QB protection most of the time.
