Leaders have to come out from behind the glass

what? We lost at So. Miss, Houston, and Tulsa because of home attendance?
Don't buy it.
I agree it was deflating. I might buy it if we lost UCF at home but otherwise this is ridiculous.

It's the 1% again, messing things up. Last time the economy, this time SMU Football.
What are we going to do about it? Maybe we should Occupy the stadium club.

Debunk it all you want, you've heard and read the same things i have I'm sure. As for winning the UCF game, yeah we did, but I would suggest a couple things about that. First of all, UCF stunk and subsequently looked really bad the rest of the season. Secondly, our team was probably properly motivated and 'ready to play' when they came out for the UCF kickoff which carried us through, despite the flat crowd atmosphere which became a post-game topic.

garbage....if thats the case please tell the coaches to leave...
You have to be able to motivate...us against the world, whatever it is, crowd attendance cant determine outcomes...

haha, good one. Thing is if we had 100,000 fans and were really talking 1%, it wouldn't be an issue, problem is we are talking about more like 10-15% of SMU's existing core fanbase.

if you're really interested, PM me. They are occasionally looking for people to be involved remotely and help build the brand on a national scale.

that is specious reasoning. Are we winning more games now than 10 years ago because attendance is up? Or better coaching and recruiting?

From what I have been told, the Austin rep is the best. Chicago is a distant second

hahahah...red devil and i succesfully moved illinois chapter to #2 in number of members this year...
Re: Leaders have to come out from behind the glass
well, i don't think attendance is up very much and i'm not sure we are very improved yet. Tulane is a shadow of what it was 10 years ago (probably Katrina has hurt them) and Rice is down as well. If Tulane and Rice were as competent now as they were 5-10 years ago, we might very well be 5-7 right now. Take away the 12th game and the chance to schedule NW State, and we might be 4-7 if we are brutally honest with ourselves.
Back to your premise of attendance being up though, fine even if it is up nominally, we still don't have the minimum critical mass of people we need in the stands game in and game out to sustain a successful program for long and thats a problem no matter how you see it or rationalize it from the boxes.
