Playing a horrible QB against them this year so they could stay undefeated.
So what was his excuse the previous 3 years where he rolled out a crappy QB against them?

Houston defense is looking a bit slow today.

This is what I thought USM was capable of doing - now let's see if they can keep it going. They are already at the score I thought they'd end with ... my prediction was 47-21 Houston but that USM D is a stingy, athletic group.

It's really not a surprise. Houston can't score on good defenses. Thankfully, Southern Miss has a competent offense unlike some of the other teams who have had a shot at Houston late this season.

28-14 Southern Miss, they returned a blocked punt for a TD. Huge play

That might have been the Cougar punter's longest kick, even though it went backwards

DanFreibergerForHeisman, I totally agree. I always thought (especially after we played them), that USM was the best team in our conference this year (and then followed by Tulsa was a toss up with UH). But then Tulsa got whipped at home by UH and I thought "hey, maybe UH really IS that good" (and led me to start throwing things b/c it reminded me of that terrible performance we had against Tulsa which was the most shocking moment for me of the entire season - how flat we played against Tulsa at that point in the season). So, anyway, I'm now going back to my previous opinion ... USM is the best ... how they lost to UAB is just nuts ... they should have been the BCS buster from our conference this year ...
