Burger wars, re-visited

Look at my old list, Roses goes just below Uptown (5th.) Earls below 1st and 10. Adairs can go anyplace below #10.

For those who dare to venture outside the immediate SMU community for a burger, here's a bit of advice: avoid Nedley's (on Plano Road, just south of Campbell in Richardson.) I was there last night, and thought I'd offer the board a view of a different kind of place - puke. The atmosphere had all the charm of a cafeteria at your average suburban high school, the beer wasn't that cold and the waitstaff had a hell of a time comprehending the simplest of orders. When I ordered my burger medium-well, the waiter actually looked at me and said "What do you mean?" Alas, the food matched the staff - a waste of space. Their idea of a medium-well burger is to serve a hockey puck with fake plastic-like cheese drooled all over it. The bun is something akin to a circular sponge (with just as much flavor as a sponge, I might add) and the meat itself was as tasteless as some of my comments after way too many drinks. This food is good enough to keep you alive, but not much more. Were this an official place on our wars - which thankfully it isn't, since I'd be ashamed to ask the rest of the Burger Crew to drive that far for such a nasty meal - it would rank dead last .... by a mile.

My office is a couple of blocks from Nedley's, and you nailed it. Their burgers are simply terrible. Do not ever order one

Lenn Sakata told me that the Rhodeside Grill in Arlington, VA has a decent burger.
Don't know if you're headed back that way for Thanksgiving.

Never been to Rhodeside, but it sounds like it's worth the trip to Va. If you're ever up in the D.C. area, give Hamburger Hamlet a try. Sensational grub.

So Cal rules the burger world. Three places that stand out:

Apple Pan: near UCLA this Westwood burger joint is old school and all good.
Tommy's: great chili burger in the hood.
In-N-Out: simply the best burger ever.

As for the best Dallas burger, Uptown and Goff's are neck and neck.

Gotta disagree with you. For my money, Bailey's 1st & 10 and Uptown are the best. By a long shot. I was very unimpressed with Goff's, and I don't see the appeal in going there just to let that freak yell at you. I know it's a tradition, or something, but it seems to me he should pay you for the right to be that rude, not vice versa.

Goff's was a great burger place back in the 50's. I kept telling my Mustangs about them. We ordered some before a game several years ago. They were awful. Same experience with Rockefeller's in FW. Kincaid's in Ft. Worth is my choice. Just ignore the tcu stuff.

Goff's Hamburgers are the best, but ole Harvey show is proud of them!

But it is worth putting up with his BS to get one of his burgers.

smudad, Kincaid's is a great burger. I forget about it because its in cowtown. I would rate it just behind Uptown and Goff's. Another place with a good burger is Texadelphia.
