ECM- we obviously pull for the same school. We desire the same result but with different approaches..
I will point out a couple of areas that I don't agree with you on. I, and I am sure many others on this board could probably change jobs every year and get more money. However, I suspect most don't change due to job challenge, loyalty and other factors.
Is coaching different? Maybe- maybe not. IMO a lot of issues with JJ center around his 'in your face' attitude toward our university. For example, he beatches because the stands are not full but to the best of my knowledge has never personally reached out to the Dallas community to embrace them and ask for their support. He is paid very well but seems to do little other than coach regarding the University. Support and results are a two-way street. He might offer to do a little more on his part. JMHO.

c'mon Dooby- if you were an employer and you found out one of your key employees was out looking for a job what would you do? Most companies that I know would walk you out the door immediately.

And I think you make a valid point. But at the end of the day, I'm not going to hang the guy out to dry because he's not more visible in the community. I see Doh everywhere and I still want him gone. Wins are first and foremost. But I don't think that June being out there and visible is going to bring THAT many more people into Ford. I mean there were 20k for the UCF when we'd just beaten our archrival, top 25 opponent on the road. June can't fix that. Only consistent winning can. June=consistent winning, at least in my mind

If you were really good at what you do, you'd make enough to be in the CoC and not have to brag about your abilities on an internet message board.

There are many businesses that have massive turnover and it is just a given that moving on is a part of the job. Coaching is one such business. The Bobby Bowdens and Joe Paternos are not the norm for coaches, and even those guys were forced out earlier than either wanted.

I worked on Capitol Hill for years and lost my job twice because the Senator that I worked for lost his re-election. It was just a reality that staffers came and went. I now work on K St., and I can tell you that lobbyists come and go with the election cycle. In some businesses, if you are not constantly looking for better opportunities, you will be left behind. Simple fact.

But I agree the timing sucked on this one.

ECM- agree with the winning. However, being active in the community generates exposure and awareness. We need all of the above.

Well said. Hell, LSU lost Saban to the NFL after he won a NC there. There is ALWAYS a better gig out there.

I wonder if Nick would've fired Les Miles at LSU when he interviewed at Michigan??

I don't disagree. I'd love to see June out there more, shaking hands, kissing babies, taking pictures, etc. That'd be awesome. But that's not his thing. He's a quirky guy- he marches to the beat of his own drummer. Maybe he really did love Hawaii and isn't crazy about Texas, and is just here to do a job. That's fine. Texas isn't for everyone. Not everyone loves where they live. You can't always get everything you want from a coach.

Again, if he weren't quirky, he wouldn't have taken this dead end job four years ago.
