NTSU's JaMario saw something last night

Postby HixsontoLeVias » Wed Dec 15, 2004 4:39 pm

that he normally doesn't see......a decent, D-1 type DEFENSE. Seemed to me that the coaching staff was almost desperate late in the game to get him his "100 yards", I guess to protect his "rep"....SoMiss showed him things that ArkSt. and Samford don't.....

Jabari is obviously an outstanding running back... wonder if he had any offers from real D-1 schools (?).

he was rated by some as the second best running back in the State. Rivals states that he was not qualified two weeks before signing date. Thomas has dyslexia. He ended up being fully qualified. These teams didn't back off for nothin though. Its possible that he was a late qualifier-for example he may have had an accommadation under the Americans with Disablities Act for his dyslexia ex. having his SAT/ACT test read to him by a proctor-this is not uncommon these days, or he made up a poor grade or NTSU accepted something in his record which other schools wouldn't. But I have seen that he had relatively good grades. But there definitely was something that scared a number of bigger schools off.

apparently he was allowed to take an untimed ACT due to his dyslexia and to his credit he ended up scoring very high on that test.

Maybe the dyslexia is why he is a good running back. He thinks he is going one way and is actually running the other.

Amazing that he still ran for "only" 247 yards against the Big 12 North Champion Colorado Buffalos who had a defense ranked fairly high when we played them in September. Classy USM fans in the Big Easy knew how great he was and have posted such. I still think he had a tight hamstring the other night, but our DD doesn't advertise those kind of things for all to know.

We got our butts whooped by a better team last Tuesday night; and after I saw how an almost 100% healthy USM came close to pulling off an upset on #4 Cal I knew they would be a tall order for our team. We are not of a Top 25 level yet (as many others), but after we get our new 35-40,000 seat football stadium located adjacent to our campus on 200 acres between I35E and I35W, there will be no stopping this northern Texas public university in football. Mark it...

Jamario Thomas had good enough grades out of Longview Springhill HS to go to any D1-A school according to UNT Coach Darrell Dickey who has a pretty good reputation of being a straight shooter (ask his friend Phil Bennett) and would not lie about such; its just that he chose a D1-A school that happened to have more comprehensive and diversified academic offerings than most and (particularly) had an academic program that would fit his needs. Just because you are dyslexic doesn't mean you are stupid and can't learn. Some of you who have children who are dyslexic would not say the same things about about them that you have about Jamario Thomas, now would you?

BTW, Jamario Thomas also doesn't have a crime blotter history, either.:(

for the record Rivals does say he had a 3.0 GPA which ain't bad-the only issue was his ACT/SAT which he did eventually pass(not sure if he took it more than once) with flying colors with the accomodation of an "untimed test"

MGM, the only reason people over here seem to get a kick out of NTS getting pounded, is that a few of you guy's come over to the SMU site and trash talk. If it had not been for YOU, I would have pulled for you guy's. Especially since your head coach and OC are from SMU! You boy's are very lucky it wasn't 40 or 50 to zip! Have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I have "THAT" much influence, eh? Right!:)

I saw enough of USM against #4 ranked Cal on that ESPN telecast that hinted to me that we would have our work cut out at the New Orleans Bowl.

A UNT win against CUSA co-champion (who beat the other co-champion, ie, TCU) Cincinatti in the 2002 NO's Bowl says that we are hardly light years away from CUSA's upper echelon quality. In the non BCS, one year can make a big difference.
