A CALL TO CURRENT STUDENTS
I will buy their ticket, and if I see them out on Friday or Saturday night I will buy their booze (21 & up only, valid student id required). All you gotta do is get there.
You will look back and wish you had gone to bowl games as a student. That was a dream only once when I was there, '97; and most others never even had the chance. Would have killed for the Weed Eater Bowl.

The issue is not that our attendence rate is poor. Its that we are small. We need to have a big time marketing push EVERY YEAR to make up for that.
Outside of a TCU game are there really ever more than 1,000 students at home games???

Re: A CALL TO CURRENT STUDENTS
I realize that with the DP and the High Admission standards SMU had after the DP, I don't think many SMU Students who came here even liked football for over 20 years. That is a given, but things are starting to change, and support has to change too. Seriously, to me the Athletic Dept. needs to make an EFFORT to get Student Leadership involved in supporting our team. Get Pledges to bus over to the Bowl game( Good idea from someone who posted above). Set up transportation for as many students as possible and just get them excited about going to the game. We had pretty good support from students for our away game at aTm, because someone set up transportation, but that is about it. It really is amazing that we have gotten into a BCS Conference and there is no announced plan yet to make this situation better at this point.

This season, yes. Previous seasons, no.
Re: A CALL TO CURRENT STUDENTS
Most of our students are Cali bros, thus don't give a [deleted] about football. Unfortunate...wish we had more Texas students

Sorority rush starts Jan. 11th with the dorms opening Jan. 10th. For students living far away from Dallas logistics with the game so close to that are difficult.

Re: A CALL TO CURRENT STUDENTS
Do people think something like that would keep LSU or Bama students away??
Nope.
Priorities. School should move rush week if it is really a problem.

Re: A CALL TO CURRENT STUDENTS
It's a shame that Panhellenic doesn't get some buses for the frat guys/sorority girls who will be back in town/on campus getting ready for rush. Give an award, if needed, to group w/most attendees and an award for the most spirited group (signs, banners, etc). They just might have fun!

This needs to change. The Mustang 11 should figure this out.

Haha, they would never spend money on that, they make the IFC pay for everything

Fraternities are basically not allowed to take freshmen anywhere w/o permission...and as good an idea as that is I can promise you that the student life office and the Greek coordinator would say no, they practically live to say no

Re: A CALL TO CURRENT STUDENTS
I wasn't talking about taking the rushees, but rather the Greeks that are back to get ready for rush. Of course, I didn't think about their ability to get tickets to the game when I wrote that. But it is a shame, with all the social media out, that SMU couldn't let students know immediately when our destination was known, that there would be buses they could ride to the game and back (kind of like Red & Blue Army was talking about). This would, hopefully, help students find fellow students who love going to SMU football games and help them make some new friends.
