Gimmick system or not: this is impressiveHawaii QB Timmy Chang beat Ty Detmer's all-time D-IA career passing yardage record by .... 2,000 yards! That's insane. His receivers haven't been that great, and the offense isn't that much of a benefit. This kid can chuck the coconut.
Yup - he's not that tall, doesn't have a very strong arm, not very mobile .... but the kid completes tons of passes. To me, he's as good as Tony Romo, and might turn out to be as good as Henson, who has yet to prove whether all the hype is valid or not. With Father Time taking snaps and throwing picks now, they HAVE to bring in a new QB (or 6) to training camp.
Screw the Cowpokes! SMU all the way! It's time for SMU to become THE FOOTBALL TEAM OF DALLAS! The Cowpokes will soon be moving further west and that means they should relinquish the Dallas name.
Re:
He's 6'2"+
One thing to keep in mind though is that Chang had essentially half of a season more games than Detmer did. I'm not saying he didn't have a spectacular career. His numbers are amazing. But he did get an extra year of eligibility (medical red shirt) after starting one season, and Hawaii has special scheduling rules that allow them to play one more game per year than everyone else.
TY DETMER Games: 46 Yards: 15,031 Yards Per Game: 332.76 TIMMY CHANG Games: 53 Yards: 17,072 Yards Per Game: 322.11
Chang, I bet he has far more passes than handoffs. If he had started (which he wouldn't have) for a school like Michigan, or Florida, or Alabama, he wouldn't been on anyone's radar
Re:Make sure Stallion knows that...he still thinks Josh McCown holds that record. ![]()
