smupony94,
I was in Birmingham about four years ago playing golf with a group of friends. One of my friends insisted we go to a Gentlemen's club. We were refered to some place close to downtown, I think it was called Dante's or something like that. As for the girls? I think a biker bar would have been a step up in quality.

Tim Tebow says I shouldn't go to gentlemen's clubs.

I know some real winners in Bham but they only wear Kavu visors and see awful jambands.

Places that I know in Bham that dont suck

I would highly recommend anyone that wants to see really dumb hippie hots twirling around to go see Rollin in the Hay @ The Oasis on Friday night before the game. If Ralph doesnt go see this he is 100% dead to me. http://www.oasisbar.com/new/main.html

This is the best place to creep hots in town.

There is a really good NOLA band called JUICE playing @ some place called the Rare Martini. This place looks kindof upscale so the Parkies might like this.

Other bars

1: The Nick. The Nick is quite possibly the most awesome bar in the world. Its super sketchy and has really good show. Ive seen some really great things happen there after Panic shows. Its easily the coolest bar in town. Its also under an overpass.

2: Zydeco. Zydeco is in a really cool part of town that is similar to Lakewood. They get great shows and its a decent bar.

3: Workplay has three or four different rooms.

There are doucher bars in Five Points that all suck.
Trey was using the powers of Gamehendge to allow the show to continue, to give the band the strength it needed to help break through this barrier

All i will say is drink SWEETWATER 420...brewed about 1.5 miles from my house in Atlanta.

It's a great "West Coast" beer that some guys from Colorado started brewing in Atlanta in 1996.

Hey SMU fans,

Congrats on the invite to BBVA Compass Bowl. My name is Jake Davidson and I'm the FOH Manager of Rogue Tavern. Rogue is Birmingham's premiere downtown bar/restaurant. We always reach out to the fans of the teams involved to give you an insider tip for a great place to hang out the day before, day of, and after the game. We have 13 beers on tap(will be expanding to 35 in mid January), 60 bottled beers, tons of the hard stuff and a great food menu. Our biggest advantages are location and size. We are located mere minutes from Legion Field and have a huge venue capable of hosting gatherings and parties. If anybody is interested please call my cell directly to set something up. I have included the website address for you to look over. Thanks again and good luck!!

I appreciate the support by throwing up my offer of a really great place to hang out at. There are a couple of other cool locations to check out if you decide not to visit the loft district.

There is SOHO in Homewood
It has Jinsei(amazing sushi), Jackson's(chain restaurant based out of Nashville), DoDiYo's(A George Sarris establishment, although Fish Market is much better.) And a pretty cool bar inside of aloft, a upscale hotel chain. The only thing is The Homewood PD is right beside SOHO and they don't play.(But huskerpony, all you boys got guns right? So jus' let the lawdog know who's boss)

There is Five Points
Although there are places to go, on a Friday or Saturday there is a little bit of riff-raff late night sometimes. Just FYI. It does have Highlands Bar & Grill, voted one of Top 5 restaurants in the US(And its not a meat and 3?! Who knew?) Next door is Chez FonFon, also owned by Frank Stitt, which is french themed but a little more lax on dress code.
Also on the fine dining side is Oceans, which has amazing seafood. It's sister restaurant next door, 26, is a more casual yet trendy establishment.
Drinking spots include Daves Pub, Courtyard Southside(smoking FYI) Crush(open late night for a next day full of regret), and Marty's, which is a landmark late night spot in Birmingham, and a must stop on the trip. Get a Burger...trust me.

My part of town..downtown...I think has a great mix of it all.

To eat there is the Fish Market, mentioned earlier. Cafe Dupont, a mainstay fine dining spot in Birmingham for more than 10 years. Trattoria Centrale, amazingly simple food. Century, owned by Culinard and located at the Tutwiler Hotel. Urban Standard, modern sleek American food with a spin. And of course Rogue Tavern...which we know I'm partial to.
Drinking establishments;
Rogue....biggest venue, most beer, great bands and tons of awesome people(who all have shoes huskerpony)
Pale Eddies, a new cool joint right next door. A little small, but great atmosphere..mainly college bar
Metro....hole in the wall just renovated and allows smoking(one of the few places downtown that does)
Speakeasy...cool joint for the yuppy crowd
Steel(Lounge type atmosphere with DJ's most nights)
Wine Loft...pretty self descriptive, great selection of wines
Matthews...kinda hidden but a late night spot with pool tables

Hope this helps

And for the record, if you can find a livestock auction in Birmingham, please let me know. I just got running water and Maw and Paw would jus' love a cow for Christmas.

I was in Birmingham once, I had to wait on the bus that was taking me to Detroit. It was like Midnight, I wish I would have had a little bit of cash cause I woulda jumped off the dog in Memphis for a night, but I'd just partied myself flat broke in Pensacola a couple days earlier. The Greyhound station isn't the best place to hang out in Birmingham at Midnight but it's a pretty good show, some of you guys might find it rather entertaining.
