RB Tyrone Ross-One to keep an Eye on

Postby Stallion » Sun Jan 09, 2005 3:45 pm

Rivals reports that SMU and Arkansas are keeping up on this 5-8 180 pound RB who ran for over 1800 yards and had 25 TDs in Tyler Lee's title run in 5A this year. Probably because of that title run Ross delayed taking his SAT/ACT so both schools are waiting to see what he scores. Rivals has him at 2.8 GPA but both schools are telling him to focus on his academics until he gets qualified. Rated 5.4 by Rivals

Another sleeeper RB candidate: Keith Gilliam (5-9, 180, 4.6) of Kilgore.
Lightly recruited, but there's a lot of interest from the coaches.

This is one kid I'm very familiar with..

I'm a graduate of Tyler Lee and went to several of their playoff games in the last 4 years. Tyrone Ross is a very impressive running back. He's on the smaller side but sees the field really well and is quick enough to get to the outside. He's also got great hands for a RB..

With a redshirt year behind him.. and some work in the weight room, he could be a very solid back. His build is very simliar to Shanderrick Charles.
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

Yes his good and Tyler Lee has produced some good RB over the years but I hear this kid REALLY REALLY REALLY has to focus on his academics. Expect to see him at a juco next year and maybe he will go to Tyler Juco and from the looks of things he will basically be in the bag if he goes there and is successful.

I heard today that Tyrone passed the TAKS test... finally. JUCO 2 years and hopefully he'll be a Mustang. I'm a big fan of his!
