Who's left?

I assume we're going to give .... maybe three more? With that in mind, who else is still out there and a viable option?

Athlete Stephen Hodge
LB Chris Mitchell
CB Columbus Givens
OL Quentin Johnson
QB Justin Willis

and who knows how many JUCOs remain out there, and guys who are committed (for now! ) to other schools.

Willis and Johnson are here this weekend. So is Korey Washington, the QB from (I think) Cedar Hill. There's supposed to be a sleeper, but I haven't found a name yet.

What's the latest on Columbus Givens?

I believe we still have a shot at a 6-4, 300 OLM named Patrick Handy from Houston Westfield.

Stallion, I'm glad you mentioned this guy. Everything I've seen on him is, I gather, the same information that you've seen. However, I talked this week with someone who not only has seen him play, but knows him personally. I asked about this guy, quoting what I'd seen on the internet (6'4" 300-ish) and he said it's not even close. He said Handy is between 6'1" and 6'2" and about 250-260 pounds (which matches one report I saw on him, but had discounted as false because of the multitude of reports suggesting he was much bigger). He said that Handy played OT in high school because they had nobody with any size on the Westfield offensive line, but that he's probably a defensive lineman -- maybe even DE -- in college. He said Handy supposedly has run an electronically timed 4.7 in the 40. He said Handy is getting some attention from some pretty legit teams, but that the general thinking is that he'll play on the DL in college. I just wonder: how is there such a discrepency between the various reports?

If the report I heard about his size is accurate, I think he sounds like a pretty appealing DE prospect.

Korey Washington played quarterback at Cedar Park, which went fairly deep in the playoffs this year. I believe he is about 5'11'' and weighs around 185. Friends of mine who have seen him play say he is an amazing athelete and a quick, fast, elusive runner.

the Handy height and weight info on Rivals is unverified since he didn't go to camp so that info is entirely possible. If height isn't verified I'd bet most recruit's heights are "embellished" by an inch to an inch and half for most recruits. That's why I generallystate whether a recruit's height is verified. Rivals does have a 12 second clip on Handy but it is of such poor quality its hard to tell. Handy has also been offered by UTEP.

HS coaches are famous for stretching their players by an inch or two, or by a few pounds, but that's an enormous amount. I was wondering if maybe there are two players with similar names who got mixed up early on in the recruiting coverage season, and that the (mixed-up) numbers were just repeated over and over and over again.
