Corso says Gilbert will get better coaching at SMU

I graduated from SMU and UT Law. Thus, I follow both teams.

I don't know about the coaching, but there is a serious problem at UT regarding their QB's. Gilbert, McCoy II, and Ash have all sucked b/c they face an enormous rush all the time.

I keep saying JJ took two kids that were unrecruited by any major programs and got them to the point where, at least for a short time, they were considered dark-horse NFL prospects.

GG will do great things. He has made a fantastic decision.

The pass rush in CUSA will be a few steps behind the pass rush in Big 12 - that extra second may be more valuable than any coaching change.

I don't understand how they can have so many 4-5 star OL recruits and suck year after year. Vince covered up poor blocking with amazing talent. McCoy I just had "it."

The other guys including Gilbert just weren't quick enough to find the open guy (or take off running) while running for their life. In our system against CUSA defenses, I think Gilbert is going to be a monster.

Because recruiting is an art, not a science, and because schools like Oklahoma, A&M, and others get a say, too.

Dont' kid yourself - Very little separates #1 and #15 or 20.

Thats because UT has probably got the best winning record of any Texas school over the last 100 years. Even their bad years are descent compared to everyone else.

That's not a QB problem. That's an O-Line problem. Plus coaching could slow down the rush by calling more screens and draws which are designed to counter a rush
