If you like high-level HS basketball, this game’s for you- SOC (Darrell Arthur) plays Kimball (George Odufuwa) tonight. These guys are two of best junior PFs in the country and I really hope one of them chooses to play college ball close to home.

This game also has four other D-I players: SOC – Kevin Rodgers (Baylor), Jerel Hastings (SFA); Kimball – TJ Clark (jr.), Lionel Booker (jr.)

Both Arthur and Odufuwa along with Joseph Fulce list SMU as one of their schools of interest!

great matchup, I wish I could go. Either one of those guys would be a huge pickup for SMU. Tubbs has his foot in the door, if anybody can get these guys to SMU, its him. Odufuwa had SMU listed in his top 7 with high interest, but apparently now has indicated 3 leaders. I am not a subscriber to Rivals, can anybody post who the 3 schools are that he favors now?

I wonder if we are still in the running for Brian Morris the big guy from Portland. He chose to wait until the spring to sign, which probably hurts our chances. This guy appears to be a rebounding machine.

It looks like Georgetown and Tennessee are now in the mix for Morris, which aint good. I checked the Portland paper and he still lists SMU as one of his favorites.

I can't remember where i read it but a couple of weeks ago I searched for morris on the net and saw an article saying that he was disappointed with the early attention he got and was now considering those new schools.

round one to Mr. Arthur – 26 pts and 12 boards in a 73-65 win over Odufuwa and Kimball. You think we could use a PF putting up numbers like that in his junior year against competition like that???

Other junior recruits with interest in SMU are having nice seasons:

Jermaine Beal (DeSoto) – Beal is the second leading scorer for #1 state-ranked DeSoto behind Roderick Flemings (Okie St commit). DeSoto defeated state-ranked Cedar Hill Tuesday night with Beal chipping in 12pts. Beal's a national top 100 recruit (4 stars) and would be a huge get for us.

Ugo Chinasa (Richardson Berkner) – This young man is a physical specimen (6’8” 230lbs) and still flying under the radar because he doesn’t put up huge numbers....well, until last night- 18pts and 16 boards over Jesuit as Berkner remains unbeaten in district play. I’ve seen Chinasa play several times and let me tell ya, he’s a player. He's already got a college forward's body as a HS junior. He’s also a highly rated DL in football.

I saw that Odufuwa had 12 points. I'm not sure if Kimball has any other big guys, but it must be tough for any big guy facing SOC to have to deal with both Kevin Rogers and Darrell Arthur down low.

That's what I thought. I'd read that he's considered one of the top defensive end prospects in the country, despite being relatively new to football. As much as I'd like to see him play hoops, I'd give anything to see him coming around the corner (he's supposed to be extremely quick/fast for a big guy) on the football field for the Ponies.

Another case? I don't remember the previous one at SMU. There was talk of Johnnie Freeman playing hoops, but as I recall our illustrious FB coach nixed that.

Maybe before that it was Ollie Hoops--didn't he line up at WR for a play or two?

He's grown about 2 inches and added about 20-30 pounds since I saw him last year. Like football, I believe he's relatively new to basketball but you couldn't tell by watching him. Body wise, he's similar to Pat Simpson with about twenty more pounds of muscle. Kid's an athlete.
