Re: Nike
I'm scared to see them after what I've seen from the Oregon and West Virginia folks..... Perhaps I'm old fashioned but I really liked the way the uniforms looked with Adidas. I understand Nike makes better products and in the end it's for the better, but I really hope we keep a traditional look and avoid getting all hoitty toitty with the haberdashery.

Re: Nike
Nike is inexplicably popular with recruits, but I have always hated their equipment and gear. Adidas looked much better. To me, this move is a step back.
Nobody has seen the gear. I expect we won't until the 2012 opener.

Why didn't they know it when Phil Bennett was our coach?
Recruiting is more about your coaching staff than it is about the uniforms.
Re: Nike
Can't stand Nike. Haven't bought anything made by Nike in more than a decade, I think, and never will again. I can't stand Phil Knight, their gear generally is ugly and uncomfortable, and they are so obsessed with themselves it's as if they think the uniforms themselves are more important than the teams wearing them.
Thankfully, I have loads of adidas SMU gear that hopefully will get me through until a new contract is signed in a few years with someone other than Nike.

Re: Nike
For what it's worth, SMU players were always commenting about how sh*tty Adidas gear was and how their shoes wrecked their feet. Several have insinuated Adidas gear caused or exacerbated injuries on the team. Do I believe the Adidas-caused-injury thing? No but the team attitude is definitely pro-Nike, the recruit attitude is definitely pro-Nike and if it makes both feel like they run faster, jump higher, cut quicker and are better protected from injury...hooray Nike!

That would make way too much sense to count on it happening w regard to SMU

Point well taken.
IMO, Nike appears to be pretty aggressive when it comes to marketing their product/merchandise maybe we will get lucky this time around

Re: Nike
I just hope we don't go back to the ugly nameplates we had in the 2010 season.
Good (2011)

Good (2009)

High-schoolish (2010)

Re: Nike
I don't disagree with any of the comments above, my opinion is based simply on looks and that doesn't amount to a hill of beans if you don't win ball games. Frankly I would not oppose the idea of vomit green and sweet and low sugar foot pink if it meant an undefeated record year after year. On another note I really liked the pants we had with the blue and red stripes, I hated that we did away with them second game of the season.
