If all of you will read the article very carefully, note that he says that he was mainly used for blocking and got the ball in some short yardage situations. No doubt, he is a stud. How many yards did he have this year, Stallion? Is that on Rivals?
Re:
Look, sunshine, YOUR statement was that he can't play: "Stallion, what part of CAN'T PLAY do you not understand?" Now forget Rivals for one second and tell us your credentials for your talent evaluation of this kid. That's what I thought, you got NOTHING.
I've never ever said we should sign the guy-reread. I though I've made it pretty clear that unless you are talking about kids that TRULY DOMINATE at the 3A 2A level then they all are LONGSHOT SLEEPERS. Only 12 3A kids got scholarships last year in Texas. About 3 if lucky will actually be players.
District 3A and 2A PlayersStallion, upon reading your last post in this thread, I said to myself that you couldn't possibly be right when you said that only 12 District 3A players got scholarships last year. So, I did a rough count of the players mentioned in Texas Football who were listed as "key losses" to their respective District 3A and 2A teams and who were listed as going on to Division I-A colleges both in Texas and elsewhere - including Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Alabama, Miami, Arkansas, etc. My rough count (and I could have missed some - I did notice a few names of highly recruited players who I know received Division I-A ships like the 2 DB's from Marlin who signed with Arkansas but Texas Football didn't indicate that - and or mis-counted - my eyesight isn't perfect when trying to count up something like this from the fine text in a magazine) came up with 36 Division I-A ships to District 3A players and 16 Division I-A ships to District 2A players. A few names like Adrian Peterson, Shae Reagan, William Morrisey, and Kellen Heard (who signed with Miami but didn't enroll and who is now enrolled at A&M) are just a sample of quite a number of last year's District 3A and 2A recruits who were very highly sought after by many Division I-A programs and who probably stand just as good a chance to succeed as do their District 5A and 4A "blue chip" counterparts. I call your hand on your bold statement of unsubstantiated fact on this point, Stallion.
damn got me-shouldn't have done it at work from memory-I should have said there were 12 2A players. Approximately 10% or 32 of all Texas recruits were 3a players (17 went to BCS conferences including 10 to the Big 12, 5 to the WAC, 4 to CUSA, 5 to the Sun Belt). 183 recruits or .58% were 5A players, 79 or .25 were 4A players, 12 or .04% were 2A, 8 or .03% were private school players and zero were Class A. What I was trying to say is that there is a huge declining liklihood of success the lower in classification you go especially past Class 4A as .83% of all recruits came from Class 5A or 4A. The rare exceptions are the ones who truly DOMINATE at the 3A level.
jtstang, what credentials do you have there, big guy? Have you seen him play? Did you not read that he was in our camp for years, so do you think we should have some sort of idea whether he could help us win or not? Again, Russell Carter was a stud, but does that mean his son is a good football player? I have never seen him play either but from what I hear he cannot play for us.
Re:
Same as you...none. But you don't hear me telling the world a guy that got a full ride to Standford "CAN'T PLAY" either fool. And if you're going to go on spouting about what you "hear" then tell us your source.
