Is ESPN/Andy Katz trying to torpedo the SMU search?I'm going totally grassy knoll here but consider:
The network immediately didn't acknowledge the Buzz Williams rumors last week. Then it decided to report that he wasn't interested. Then I had never seen anything that it reported SMU talking with Seth Greenberg until some ESPN Insider said Greenberg had no interest. ESPN and Andy Katz spoke ill of SMU's entry into the Big East. Now, that SMU is in the conference and trying to make a strong hire for a basketball, is the Network and Katz driven by an agenda to ensure SMU will not hire the guy it wants by publicly leaking this information (accurate or inaccurate) or is it really doing its job? Food for thought...
Re: Is ESPN/Andy Katz trying to torpedo the SMU search?Katz is a [deleted] that's what I think is going on here.
Re: Is ESPN/Andy Katz trying to torpedo the SMU search?nobody pays attention to that a-hole anyway. But yes, ESPN has tried at every turn to tank the New Big East and SMU.
Re: Is ESPN/Andy Katz trying to torpedo the SMU search?
It's business for them. Contract negotiations are coming up in September and their goal is to make the Big East worth as little as possible to the open market so that they can try and pay a minimal amount for the rights.
Re: Is ESPN/Andy Katz trying to torpedo the SMU search?I'll be concerned when McMurphy starts bad mouthing us, luckily he actually does his job correctly.
Re: Is ESPN/Andy Katz trying to torpedo the SMU search?Fundamental question is why would ESPN via Katz try to undermine the SMU situation??? Only explanation I can think of would be to dummy down the forthcoming Beast TV contract $$$$ negociations by discrediting SMU, Houston, Temple and UCF basketball programs. These programs do not match the loss of Pitt and Cuse which means less viewer interest particularly in on the East Coast which translates into less $$$$$.
Re: Is ESPN/Andy Katz trying to torpedo the SMU search?ESPN is a for profit business and of course they have an agenda. They want to discredit the Big East and further more they are in bed with ut which has had it in for SMU for a very long time. All we can do is band together, persevere, over come and stick it to everyone in the end!
Pony Up!
Re: Is ESPN/Andy Katz trying to torpedo the SMU search?Circle of Champions needs to buy ESPN.
Re: Is ESPN/Andy Katz trying to torpedo the SMU search?Starting to sound like aggy on here...
Re: Is ESPN/Andy Katz trying to torpedo the SMU search?taken on their whole - it is pretty hard to deny that ESPN is trying to run down the value of Big East
Re: Is ESPN/Andy Katz trying to torpedo the SMU search?
It's surprising anybody watches ESPN anymore actually. It's excruciating. Shake It Off Moody
Re: Is ESPN/Andy Katz trying to torpedo the SMU search?ESPN has taught us way too many times that they have no journalistic credentials because they are so closely tied to certain teams and conferences. Katz is just one of many mouthpieces for the ESPN business interests masquerading as a journalist. We (SMU Athletics) do not fit into their worldview hence our very existence is an inconvenience to them.
Re: Is ESPN/Andy Katz trying to torpedo the SMU search?C'mon...today ESPN ran a live video of that whoring clown Bayless tweeting live during a press conference. That has got to be some kind of low point of the human existence in the television era.
As for Katz, you don't need a conspiracy theory to know that guy would love to sit down and eat an entire bag of Richards and then ask for seconds. He's a wedge, the simplest tool in the entire box.

ESPN work as hard as anyone to ruin sports. Sports are a tool for espn to make money, which is not the point at all. Their coverage is sickeningly insincere, soulless and ignorant. They are not worth the crustiest of underwear. --- I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?lyabcs Mustangs Abu!
Re: Is ESPN/Andy Katz trying to torpedo the SMU search?Katz used to be a huge pro SMU guy when he was at the Sac Bee in the late '90s. I remember at the time thinking how refreshing it was for someone to be independent of the big name programs and just report sports.
