WAS THERE EVER SUCH A DAY?

Postby No Quarter » Tue Apr 24, 2012 12:05 pm

MAYBE THIS QUESTION HAS BEEN ASKED AND TALKED OUT, BUT I MISSED IT.

In the history of SMU sports, has the coming of a new coach in any sport generated the national, local, and fan comment that as the hiring of Larry Brown?

I'd say no, and only June Jones come close.

In a sport such as men's track, or tennis, or soccer, was there evger comparable excitement among those closest to the sport?

Interesting that SMU offered Tom Osborne before getting Bobby Collins and Paul Johnson before getting June Jones. Were the circumstances when several BB offers were made before Larry Brown accepted similar?

From what we know, several "offers" were made, but only one offer was made.

Was Tom Osborne really offered the job at one point?
