He does a good job of trashing our current team, and saying it was all about the money.

First -- he's speaking to a Central Illinois and Illinois State audience which is hurt, upset and confused about why and how this happened. So he's massaging the hurt speaking the way he did. I get it.

Second -- what exactly has SMU accomplished since 1999-2000? Plus, how many CUSA conference titles has SMU won let alone a winning record? If we played Illinois State, we would get run out of the gym. This program has a lot of work ahead of it.

Third -- coaches love challenges. They want to prove they can win anywhere. Throw in the chance to learn with Larry Brown and the chance to be a Big East coach in the near future. And if you got a job offer that paid you reportedly twice than what you currnetly earned would you take the job or not? Chances are you would if you wanted to make your life better and your family's life better.

Don't get me wrong, I completely understand his audience and our current team. I was just providing cliff notes for the peoples.

I hear you. I thought it was a good interview. He seemed as confused about our search as we did.

Yeah...I'm thinking Samarippas still running the point...my mistake. New style. New direction could mean a better game.

Good interview. Seems very sincere. Really has a low opinion of our exisitng situation and roster. More to come...

I guess that is why Coach Brown is moving to make roster changes so quickly.

Exactly why LB made the quick moves. I got to hang with Tim for several hours on Saturday and Coach J is a great, great guy and he likes the move to Dallas as he was originally accepted at SMU Law school and had put up the $ to get into SMU when he got a call to go into the Securities Business for 5 years....and then he felt the coaching urge. Coach J thinks that Illinois State will be Top 25 ranked next year...they have 2 guys that are NBA quality and a really good College player on the team and will go to the NCAA dance ( IF they leave the coaches and style of play intact...which may not happen)...and YES they would blow us out the door.
Tim J is big time quality.

Heard the Musers on the Ticket talking about Jankovich last week, or maybe the week before. Apparently he and George Dunham are friends (from UNT days presumably) and even were in a band together for awhile.

When he was a UNT, they had him on all the time. If I recall, Jank's band was called "Major Violations."

They mentioned that band name, I had forgotten. They had a laugh about the band name with him landing at SMU.

Impressive interview and coach. SO and SMU appear to have stepped up to offer a very unique position and "guarantees". If ISU with Coach J at the head had broken into the Top 25 and the Tournament, other bigger and more successful teams would have been pursuing him next year.

If LB and TJ are joined at the hip and both are enjoying the situation, SMU has just made a major college BB move while also joining the BE next year. It would be hard to imagine a more unlikely outcome that this one as recently as last fall. Amazing actually.
