for those that don't know TCU is reportedly taking a chance with at least 3 of their top recruits Hodge, Corderra Hunter and his teammate James Pierce who are reportedly not yet qualified. If they come through and get a qualifying score by August 1(still 6 months away) this is a pretty nice recruiting class by the Frogs. They got quality with just about every commitment but will take a smaller class than SMU. If they qualify before August 1, TCU's model which allows them to take these kids will have given TCU a huge advantage over SMU. If they don't they are off to Junior College.

Two of the three will qualify and one may already be qualified. All have the grades, just missing closely on the SATs. It is a very nice class & RJ Jackson along with Marcus could really finish it off well along with a La. OL and a La. DE (who previously commited to a Big XII team who recently lost their coach). Lots of help in the secondary where TCU really needed support.

My point was/is, with regard to your post & boast that TCU has "momentum," it is my considered opinion that TCU should be concerned as to whether their high point will be the Franchione era and its vestiges which carried over into the '03 season.

I continue to hold that TCU will be and should be favored over SMU in Sept. A TCU loss, however, would be much more disasterous than would an SMU loss.

When I said momentum, I was speaking more in terms of recruiting momentum. Everyone knows that commitments can have a domino effect...ie, one good recruit commits, which makes another good recruit feel comfortable with commiting, etc. I agree that TCU needs to pick it up on the field next year. None of the non-BCS schools can afford to have multiple losing seasons. Thats why SMU is having trouble getting over the hump. And yes, TCU losing to SMU would be bad for TCU, but it wouldn't be a disaster. SMU will win again eventually. The only "disaster" would be to have another losing season, which I don't think will happen. But who knows.

Pierce is JC bound and the other two need more than a little.

Looks like SMU is doing the same thing. I saw that Givens has also committed to Trinity Valley JC. Just in case. I hope that all of both of our ships come in. I also hope you guys take it to the Bears next year.
