WTF Boise?
Bruce Feldman of CBS sports is reporting that they still haven't withdrawn from the MWC. I know there is an issue with the WAC potentially collapsing, but come on already...

Re: WTF Boise?
They still do not have a home for their sports other than football do they. That is a hang up for them.

Not really. CBS was getting all kinds of scoops regarding Big East expansion because Brett McMurphy is good friends with John Marinatto, and since then they have only reported Big East news with a seriously negative slant. In fact, when Marinatto resigned, McMurphy had this crybaby piece: http://www.cbssports.com/columns/story/18985030
Go ahead and blame John Marinatto. Blame him for the Big East's instability and all the league's defections.
While you're at it, blame him for high gas prices, unemployment and even the torn ACLs recently suffered by Derrick Rose and Mariano Rivera. It's all Marinatto's fault. Everything that has gone wrong in the world since he took over as the Big East's commissioner on July 1, 2009 can be directly linked back to Marinatto.
Boise is simply trying to get their ducks in a row for their Olympic sports. What CBS doesn't mention in thier reports about Boise is that the amount of money Boise would have to pay extra to the MWC to stay a few extra days/months is less than what they would owe the Big East if they renege on their commitment to join in football.

Re: WTF Boise?
Rumors blowing up twitter right now that the Big West has given the finger to Boise State and that BSU has no choice but to stay in the MWC.
WTF Boise?
No way they stay now that MWC didn't get waiver. BE is now their best shot at playoff access.

What happened was that the Big West had a meeting today and decided not to vote on the Boise issue at all. Basically the Big West schools want Boise to promise to cover travel expenses for the BW schools, plus a little more. BW knows that Boise has relatively few options (Boise has even talked to MWC about letting its Olympic sports stay there, although that didn't go over too well), and so they want Boise to provide some $$$ to "make the deal work."
The money Boise would forfeit by staying in the MWC over going to the Big East for football is a huge amount and Boise is moving full-speed ahead to move their football to the Big East. The extra amount to stay in the MWC past July 1 pales in comparison to the money Boise would lose out on by not putting football in the BE.

Big West is pretty much a California conference. Has Boise checked to see whether the Big Sky might have them back? Seems a better fit

Boise people have told me two things about the Big Sky:
1) There's no love lost for Boise in that conference
2) the Big Sky really wants to focus on schools that are all-sports members of the Big Sky
On the Big East boards, some are suggesting that SDSU leave the Big West and help Boise rebuild the WAC Olympic Sports conference, along with the yet-to-be-announced Big East #14 team. That would look like this:
SDSU
Boise
Big East #14 (Air Force/Fresno/BYU if they can be taken from the WCC)
Denver
Seattle
Idaho
New Mexico State
Utah Valley

Re: WTF Boise?
I guess there would be a possibility of forming a Big East (Olympic Sports West) league made up of members like: SMU, Houston, Air Force, BYU, San Diego State, Boise, etc.? Then having season ending Big East championship tournaments in Swimming, Track, Tennis etc. once a year? A school could chose to schedule teams from the east as they desired or their budgets allowed. I know I am making some assumptions that are not yet fact with regard to two schools. But I imagine that still doesn't solve Boise's basketball problem.
