He's done a great job and will probably keep our wrs in front of you guys and take away the deep ball. Big thing is how effective our run game is with a rearranged OL. That could make the difference between your DBs getting help or not.

SMU has a good d. I see this as a pretty even matchup having watched each team for several years. We have speed on offense but SMU does a good job of making teams throw short and intermediate stuff in order to have success. How well the smu DL vs BU OL goes will determine a lot.

Not sure if you've watched any SMU football or not but our defense has been pedestrian at best against no-huddle offenses especially ones run by teams with superior talent. The Baylor game won't be any different, it'll be us sucking wind and faking injuries, leaving guys wide open underneath and whiffing on tackles. The matchup is decidedly in Baylor's favor.

Our defense has sucked against no-huddle offenses at all times during the June Jones era. TCU nearly beat us by going to a no-huddle offense for one quarter. In 2010, a Houston offense that was missing Keenum and was so bad they didn't even get to a bowl found a way to score 45 on us.

I like what Tom Mason has done for our defense, but to call our efforts against no-huddle offenses anything more than a complete and utter failure during the June Jones era would be far too kind.

The best chance we have against Baylor is if their replacement for RGIII isn't yet equipped to go full-throttle, high-octane no-huddle against us.

By some accounts we were successful and others we made it to #2. During the same time Baylor was paying players they did not make anywhere near that level. Simple statement of ROI.

We didn't have a payroll to meet. Come on. There is a reason we weren't busted like everyone else.

seriously? the reason you didn't get busted is that you weren't winning championships in those years. SMU was the focus of the NCAA's investigators because we were the ones beating Texas. I remember a well connected Aggie buddy telling me his Baylor "supporter" neighbor was upset when one particulr recruit signed with SMU and what really upset him is that the kid wore the clothes the Baylor alum had bought him to the signing day press conference. The entire SWC was dirty in those days, but SMU was over the top aggressive, no denying that.

I saw every snap of the UH and TCU games in 2011. Cooks moved it a lot but didn't capitalize. Both teams failed to run the ball consistently. Each had 1-2 long runs skew the average as did USM. Didn't see the Tulsa game. A&M had the benefit of their OL simply dominating your DL.

I think Flo will be ready to go at QB for us. Dude has been around so long he could probably coach and install the offense if he had to.

You lose all credibility if you cannot admit Baylor cheated in the SWC days. I know Rice players that were being paid. I openly admit SMU went beyond all limits and we earned the DP, but to believe Baylor was clean is absurd.

boosters on their own behind Teaff's back I can possibly see.

Coaches and admin complicit like at smu, A&M, tech, uh, and others... get real. Rampant expensive cars like at smu? No.

Equating BU to the rest is simply the bs "everybody does it" excuse. We didn't get busted. Burden of proof is on those who say we did the same thing as smu.

And my original post on this subject, which was in total jest, referred to a booster gift. I was there. I played during the SWC days. I saw it, I know it and it was real. Do not kid yourself as to it happening. And if the boosters did it, I can promise you the coaches knew it.

Please do not think I am trying to equate any other school of doing to the extent of what SMU did, but again the goal of the cheating was to win championships, and that we did.

Oh puke. Please don't join those who seem inclined to nominate Teaff for sainthood. The stories about things that went on (sorry -- "allegedly" went on) during his time at Baylor are rampant, and there's a reason it took several cops to keep Forrest Gregg from beating the crap out of Teaff after he called the fake punt at the end of a lopsided game in 1989 or 1990. Teaff was a decent (but not great) coach who was no different than any other coach of that era. Baylor is a good school and I have a lot of friends who went there, but he is the reason I have rooted against Baylor ever since that game.

Anybody who deifies Grant Teaff and thinks for one second he was clean is as delusional as some other fans at some other school making a lot of news right now.

After SMU got the DP, I knew one of our players that transferred to Baylor. While he was on the Baylor team, I remember him telling me of BU players bragging about gifts and payments they had received. I also knew a girl that Jessie Armstead was dating at the time, and he said that Baylor and Miami were offering the most. I guess Miami out bid the Bears. Anyone that thinks Baylor didn't cheat like crazy, is either pretty young, or naive.

Pretty common knowledge, that Scott Drew has been cheating his butt off in hoops.
