New Orleans-SMU Hotel Special for Tulane?
Didn't I see that we were going to possibly have a New Orleans hotel with a special rate for the Tulane weekend? Something must be going on there (No Saints game) because hotels on hotels.com and priceline, etc are very expensive. I think last time it was the Iberville Suites?

I checked the City's calendar recently and there is nothing going on there that week-end. Don't know what the deals is, but we recently spent 5 days in Chicago at a nice hotel for less than what two nights in New Orleans will cost this fall.

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

We're staying at a hotel in Kenner near the airport and driving into the CBD for the game.

If you are looking for a bargain in the perfect location close to the French Quarter and Super Dome then the Le Pavillion is usually one of those unnamed specials on Hotwire. Usually in the $75-90 range. Its rated 4 stars but is 100 years old-it was in pretty good shape though. 5 minute walk to French Quarter-not too much farther to Superdome. Recently stayed there on nite before cruise and it was a bargain.

Way good call...will check into it. I like hotels with character like that.

I checked and I'm 99% sure the 4 1/2 star hotel on Hotwire is the Le Pavillion and even its twice as expensive as usual. Apparently others are wondering why prices are so high that weekend. National Convention of Neuroscience and Blues Festival mentioned

Try using corporate code 13717 at the Hyatt Regency across from the SD. Rates are $109 a night. My gift to you since I will not be in attendance.

Do you have any hotel points? When I travel to events like this, I find that I save an enormous amount of money b/c the points don't have a special event markup.
