I've never heard of Tate Wallis. I read the comments in that preview about him, and he sounds like a terrific player, but is everyone as surprised as I am that he's leading the QB race? I'm eager to see him play this fall!

Tate has always been told he's not quite tall enough, or not quite fast enough, or didn't quite have the necessary arm strength. That's why he wasn't recruited more heavily.

All he does is win. You'll all like what you see from him this fall!

You're right. He sure will look good backing up Bartel on the bench. Did any of you realize that Ennis won again without Tate. Maybe he had a pretty good supporting cast. Eric Guajardo won a state championship with Grapevine as a very average quarterback with an incredible team. There seems to be similarities.....

We know you are high on your good buddy Bartel JustAFriend, and that's admirable, but I'm going to rely on the Coach's evaluations for right now. That evaluation may very well change during the summer preps for the fall season....but for now Tate is the starter. So don't be bad mouthing our starting QB....OK? Thanks.

I seem to recall Bennett saying, "If we played tomorrow, Tate would start." That was in the spring and in case ya'll didnt notice, you did not play the next day. Anyone who thinks that someone is named a starter in the spring is off his rocker. No starter will be named until the season starts. Your best bet is to accept that there will be a fierce competition, and I am saying this objectively. But yes I am high on Bartel, and Bennett mentioned that he "showed signs of brilliance." There was never a powerful word like that uttered about Wallis. You will all be pleased with what you see when Bartel returns. I'm not saying anything except that, he is ready.

See i'm not here to bash anyone bartel is a great QB and he does "show" signs of brilliance. But thats all just words..what it's gonna come down to is who gets the job done on clutch situations. And from the practices i have seen he seems to be a little shaky on thise terms. I would like to see Wallis in those situations because at least during practice he shows he can take the pressure. I'm not one sided cause we still have to see who gets the job done during the fall. Either way i just want the mustangs in a bowl game with a winning season and a WAC championship!

You are right, what matters is the clutch situation. I'm not discounting Wallis either because he is a good QB. The fact remains that every qb out there has to prove himself. Including Tate. He is not excluded just because of the starter comment. The fall will be fun, but for those of you who think anything has been decided already, you are sadly mistaken.

Just A Friend,

If Bartel has half your competitiveness, it will be an interesting Fall indeed!

The same billboard can be seen at I-35 and Inwood... as you head north, look on the west (left) side of I-35.
