Re: Run n' Shoot
I don''t think June Jones' on field coaching or the Run 'N (not so) Fun Offense will be the reason we lose in CUSA. Completely different level of play especially this year.

With everything already said, the bottom line is this: SMU, in the Jones era has beaten only 2 terrible BCS teams.

I won't argue for or against your other points, but just to set the record straight, he didn't have 1000 yard rushers but she did spread the carries around and broke 1000 rushing yards several times. Here's some rush stats from Hawaii:
Total Yards of each of the top 3 rushers at Hawaii, with season total:
2007: 288, 219, 190 - 697
2006: 990, 366, 153 - 1509
2005: 643, 154, 68 - 865
2004: 722, 336, 102 - 1160
2003: 422, 405, 307 - 1134
2002: 451, 352, 311 - 1114
2001: 558, 378, 51 - 987
2000: 651, 116, 102 - 869
1999: 645, 435, 36 - 1116

If this offense is so outdated, please explain how it differs from other 4-wideout offenses that successful teams, like Oklahoma State, West Virginia and Baylor, use.
Run & Shoot and those spread and air raid offenses are different in that the QB has designed running plays in Baylor's spread so they recruit dual threat QB's. At Okie State and West Virginia they have more of an Air Raid type offense where the routes are not changing and it is easier for the QB and receiver to be on the same page. Routes are also locked on the Baylor spread offense as well. Less complicated offense to run so it is easier to learn and execute.

Interesting - how do you know that Baylor's routes are locked? I haven't studied their offense in depth so I am unaware of the intricacies of their passing game.
It's a common misconception that the Run and Shoot's passing game is all option routes - it's simply not true. There are many packages that are static routes, while there are others -- Choice and Switch -- that have several options based on coverages.
It's also not 100% true that Air Raid's routes are completely static. I don't know of any modern passing attack that doesn't adjust routes based on coverages. Hell, my Division II team in the mid-90s adjusted them based on what the defense did. And I know for a fact that WVa & OK State have a play where the QB decides to either run a draw to the RB or throw a pass after the snap.
I understand the frustration with what we're doing on offense. The expectations are high with CJJ being an offensive "guru" and the results simply aren't there. I get that. But it has nothing to do with running an offense that people who don't know what they're talking about call "old fashioned." In fact, it was ahead of its time 20 years ago because nobody was doing it back then and everybody is doing it now.

You know frustration is high when fake posters show up to defend the coach, like all that showed up in Bennett's last year, and disappeared the day he was fired.

June has said that it does take a whole to learn his offense as compared to other less complicated offense. I think he said it takes a QB several games before he really knows it. Most high schools run the spread option so it is easier to transition to a college spread imo. Someone told me it might be 6 games into the season be GG gets it. Just saying.

Fair enough - I guess I was using the wrong stat to emphasize my point. He is running the ball more at SMU than he did at Hawai'i, something I attribute to having better running backs (McNeal and Line). From 2009-11, SMU averaged 28.4 rushes per game, when the most he had in one season at Hawai'i was 23.8. The offense has become more of a run-based offense here, as much as an offense under Jones can be.

This is crazy. Thanks for doing the research and posting. If this is not the biggest indictment of the system or the play calling (coach), I do not know what is. Compare that to the A and M third down conversion rate where they either picked up the first or scored.
Austinponie, the one that stands out is the third and goal from the 7 with a 4 yard completion. You need to bold that. We cannot score TDs inside the 10 against good defenses.

That may be true, but we have gone through 4 QBs only 1 has been marginally successful in the system.

Credit SmooPower for the research.
Why not have a short yardage package?
Snaps under center, 2 backs, Wildcat, all of the above.
How hard is that?
