Hopefully he will not be a candidate here, even though he coached here years ago. That Tennessee program was a dumpster fire the past three seasons

He never had a chance with the mess he inherited - he is a really nice guy. Best of luck to him.

Re: Vols fire Dooley
Well there goes Tennessee's chances of ever landing a quality coach. How can they fire someone before the season is over? What message does that send to recruits? To fans? To alumni?
UT's ad is Dave Hart, the father of SMU's AD, Rick Hart. Wonder if the apple falls far from the tree.

Sorry, redpony. Didn't see your comment when I posted mine. Didn't mean to be duplicate things on an internet message board, especially this one.redpony wrote:hope daddy doesn't try and pawn him off on sonny boy.

Re: Vols fire Dooley
Dooley was 17-20 at La Tech in 3 seasons. Obviously he was here in the late '90s and then went to Saban's staff at LSU for several years.
He had a really bad situation going into Tennessee with the stuff going on there. Lots of turmoil.
He's the type of guy that makes you scratch your head and wonder "what if" he had a stable situation. I'm not advocating for him for here by any means. But his last recruiting class--his third--was rated 17th nationally, which isn't good enough for the $EC, but if he could pull anything near that around here, that would be close to awesome.
I'm wondering if he might be a fit here under a new regime as a recruiting coordinator type?
