And teams from the 1920's, 1930's, 1940's, 1950's and 1980's would all have participated in 4 straight bowl games if .500 play was the criteria.
(Not including Jones teams)

3+ bowls: 10
Several of those 3+ would qualify for 4-in-5-years.
Longest streak: 10
So in the pre-DP era of 71 seasons, we averaged a little under a 4 bowl streak every decade, or a 3 bowl streak every 7 years. This is in a "BCS" equivalent conference.
