Really? The attendance that day was announced at 32,650. SMU had somewhere around 1,200, including the official party (administrators, support staff, etc.) and families of players and coaches. Nevada had far fewer. The vast majority of those who were there seemed to be locals who were there because of June Jones.

yeah that about right on SMU and Nevada contingent but there was nowhere near 32,000 actualy there. I have a feeling there won't be more than about 600 fans in Hawaii this year. I think SMU did purchase a bunch of tickets for military personnel that added more fans

You're right -- the actual number might have been different from the announced total. But several people I talked to were pleasantly surprised by the turnout, and almost unanimously credited it to the return of June Jones.

The attendance the next day was listed in the low 20s in the hnl paper. That 32 number was revised later on
