During the off season my roommate and I used to contact some coaches we knew at other schools that had recruited us and hint to them we were considering transfer and were going to come visit the campus. Although nothing was formally done, we sure did have the red carpet treatment when we showed up. It was kind of nice to pick a school that had old high school cronies and get free room and board and dates arranged, etc. Kind of fun visiting, catching up on old times and feeling special. I do not know if any of that goes on anymore, but that could be an explanation for the rumors. Of course, I was not good enough to worry anyone.

the reason

Postby mavsrage311 » Wed Apr 27, 2005 12:25 pm

I have heard from many people that none of the guys enjoyed playing for Tubbs last year. It was the main reason Reay left, and a reason B-Hop is contemplating leaving. I'd imagine its the same reason with Devon and Roberts

If that is truly the case, we have some problems. If kids don't like playing for him...word gets out.

Yes, if the word gets out... we might have a big turn around with players that want to win and work hard AND LIKE IT.

I guess it could be something like Texas Tech. I hope the word gets out that Tubbs IS a Bball coach and wants to WIN.

You'd imagine huh, they didn't "enjoy" it? Thats too bad. Tell us, were the practices too strenuous or what? Was Tubbs too demanding on the boys? God forbid, did he curse at somebody? D-1 athletics is hard, its not intramurals.

They "all" complained about Dement too. Maybe a few oughtta re-join him at UNCG now, so Tubbs can put together a team with the toughness it takes to compete, mental and physical. Maybe a culture change was in order last year, anybody think of that? This crap get so old. Most forums delete this idle speculation. We just seem to wallow in it around here.

He probably instituted defensive drills in practice, that bastard.

Remember this is the team that quit on Dement. Maybe they quit on Tubbs too. Who know. Maybe the worst offenders graduated, or maybe they're leaving. Either way, if they don't want to play here, don't let the door hit you on your way out. You come to play, hustle and win. You do what your coach says and if you do usually you do better than if you do what you think is right, no matter how good or bad the coach actually is.

okay

Postby mavsrage311 » Wed Apr 27, 2005 11:38 pm

Okay guys, I did some investigating and I found out that the school Roberts was considering transferring to was UT!!!!! I don't know if thats common knowledge, but thats the first time I heard of that. I'm not sure if he's still considering it, but I know he didn't want to sit out a year. I have also heard that the coaching staff has been promising him they'd build around him, taking him out todinner even to get him to stay. I don't know about pearson's situation.
