Pretty sure smu could get access if it wanted. Longtime trustee of TISD and alum of REL and former Mustang carries a fair amount of weight, I would imagine. Not to mention one of the largest taxpayers in the district is a CofC member

Completely different scenarios if I remember correctly. Mike Leach is pulling a scholarship offer of a kid HIS STAFF offered. The Tyler Lee kid was a Phil Bennett recruit, and June's staff pulled the offer, as he did with others too. That is much more commonplace than what Leach did, which is just plain wrong.

There are numerous comments on this board that JJ should do the same thing...pull a scholarship late in the recruiting season and give it to a 'better' player. Actions such as this have consequences. I would bet there are other North Texas schools that will be Leary of Leach offers.

JJ pulled a Tyler Lee schollie almost immediately after taking over the SMU job. Because SMU is now persona non grata because of that action, we have gotten no recruits out of Tyler Lee.
