Actually it was 2 seasons (87 and 88). I have two of those sweatshirts in excellent condition. I should see what this one brings...probably not much.

Good news then! The t-shirt is going for a whopping $4.26! Just think, for a sweatshirt you should get at LEAST $6! Easy money.

Ok,
I have a Blue Polyester Bowl Tee Shirt and a Red Cotton Bowl Tee Shirt from 81-83. I know they are somewhere.

I bet I could get $10 for each.

Wow, 3 undefeated seasons in one decade for SMU.

Got a Mustang Mania shirt or 2 around here somewhere, and a couple
mania decals probably too. I'm saving them for when they'll get $5.95

for those too young to remember-It was "The Polyester Bowl-The Next Best Thing to Cotton" in reference to SMU's probation during a championship season (1980) when UT went to the Cotton Bowl as the SWC representative-let's not take for granted that the youngsters would get these vaugue references to SMU's storied past. Kids are literally entering SMU who were not born when SMU got caught cheating which resulted in the DP.

Next year's freshmen were most likely born in 1987.

I was born in 1982, a good year for SMU sports, and I have pics of me as a toddler wearing a ROYAL blue SMU sweatshirt.

Well then Stallion's right, some of the cheating SMU got caught at which ultimately resulted in the death penalty occurred before you were born.

BTW, Stal, I think the Polyester Bowl was 1981, as we played BYU in the Holiday Bowl in 80.

I still have my "SMU-TCU Probation Bowl '86" shirt from the Cotton Bowl that year. Holes, stains and all. I keep it as a symbol of a happy time when embarrassing the frogs was like breathing to us.

Fascinating sidenote: I stood that entire game drunk in the student section, with no suncreen or hat on. The temperature was approximately 127 degrees. My nose blistered like a pig on a spit. For the next two weeks, it DRIPPED PUS at inoppertune times. (You know, onto my textbook while sitting in literature class next to a hot Kappa, that kind of thing. Not a good look.) Anyway, had I known then that we would beat TCU only 4 more times in the next 16 years, I guess I would have learned to enjoy that experience a little more.

Oh well, we won the game, what am I complaining about.

That's pretty bad, but it's better than sitting in class next to a hot Kappa who is dripping pus, I guess.
