I guess winning cures everything.
The one swear word this North Korean message board allows is "fags"? Wow. Typical.
Interesting...never knew that was a swear word. Always thought it was just a derogatory label for someone of a certain orientation. BTW, in North Korea they don't delete your thread, they delete you.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

I suspect what happened is that the AD got the videos and called Rice into his office and said something like WTF are you thinking. At which point Rice probably cried and said the stress had gotten to him and that he'd do better.......... At which point AD probably said yeah, I ought to fire you now, but I have to punish you, 3 days suspension and a $50,000 fine. But if you do this S#$## again, you're gone. Then the video came out (of course after Rice had earned his $100,000 bonus).

But seriously, if you spliced together the worst coaching moments of Coach K, Roy Williams, or Calipari into a two minute video it would probably be pretty damning as well. I don't think Rice's actions as a coach, such as throwing balls at players, are effective (see his record at Rutgers for proof) but I've seen coaches shove and yell obscenities at players before. When did we as a society become such wusses?

so if a coach or employer acted this way to your child you would be OK with this? tell your kid to accept it and in turn perform the same type of tantrum to others because of why, it builds character? If your employer curses at you, hits you, belittles you in front of your peers and that will motivate you? I don't think perennial successful coaches behave this way. I don't think Larry Brown behaves that way. Coach Rice was a bully and knew the players couldn't fight back or he would take away their scholarships. In fact the guy who alerted the administration of this behavior was let go. He is now suing Rutgers.

Like I said, I don't think it's an effective way to coach players. But I'm not naive enough to think that similar things aren't happening at other programs across the country. Everyone likes a scapegoat and loves to feign outrage- now it's being directed at the AD and the President- where does it end? What if a judge or governor commutes the sentence of one criminal who goes back out into the public and commits another crime...should they be impeached/disbarred as well? Tim Pernetti has been one of the best young ADs in the country- who would've thought ten years ago that RUTGERS would get a Big Ten invite- and now he should be fired because a coach shoved grown men and called them gay slurs and he "only" suspended him three games? Please.

The basketball players who played competitively at all levels are saying they have never seen anything like this. Even the current coaches are appalled. Mike Izzo was saying if it was a one time incident that would be one thing but it happened over 3 years. Also, an assistant coach at Rutgers has now resigned because of the same behavior. And now the AD is being kept because he got them into the same conference as Penn State. I guess money can excuse unethical management. Oh well, I guess that's corruption for you.

Not sure why kids would put up with this, this is only a small sampling of him.
I have always wondered what Frank Martin is like in practice, talk about intense!
