A few years back, during the Bennett years, the Baylor band kept playing every time SMU had the ball. And what did one hear from the officials? Crickets. That game is the primary reason I have not been able to get Mrsmrydel back to a game. Those Baylor horns were so consistently loud she has refused to return. I try to explain to her that noise and SMU football are not usually a combination but until now she has stayed away. I have convinced her to go to the Tech game however.

Stallion, I guess you didn't notice, that the post above yours were talking about this penalty. The games in 1986 were on tape delay on KTXA 21, this game is one of the few that I don't have. Anyone have a copy? I've never seen this clip on youtube Stallion, how did you come across it?

1982 Vs. UT in Austin. There were more SMU fans at that game than any away game I've ever attended (the press said 10K) and Eric Dickerson took control of the game. Wild plays, good defense, beautiful weather, and the UT fans were despondent when it ended.

The best game was probably the 1980 loss at Baylor 32-28, but the most enjoyable one was the win at UT in 1982. 30-17. The victory over TCU in 2011 was pretty nice.

The 1982 win on the road vs #2 ranked UT was my favorite. Barely got out of Austin alive... the town hated us after that loss

Favorite one I can remember was the 2002 home win over LA Tech, 37-34. First quarter took over an hour to play. Was ridiculous how long that game lasted. It's the first game that I really got into SMU football and really dragged me into it (had been going since I was born but for some reason that win really peaked my interest).

2nd favorite would probably be the 2011 win in Fort Worth. Thought for sure they would lose it after giving up the lead.

By far, the worst SMU game I attended was also in 1986. The Arkansas game was like going to a funeral while the dead guy was still kicking - barely. The team quit. The coaches quit. The fans quit.

'82 versus UT - wild 4th quarter - Bobby Leach TD off the deflection right in front of us.
'83 at A&M..for some reason the goal line stand to win 10-7 stuck in my memory-also in front of us.
'84 at Baylor...comeback brought fans back into the stadium. Don King to Ron Morris into the wind on the Z pattern for the win..

The UT fans definitely hated us. I remember hearing a clerk in a convenience store who had attended the game say that he hated the SMU fans more than the Aggies. He actually said that SMU fans made fun of UT students clothes!
