Mudiay commitment a sign of bigger things to come . . .

Don't look now, but there's a college hoops power building right in the heart of Dallas.

Dallas jumps on the next hot thing...and SMU could be that next "trendy" thing.

Especially with the Mavs struggling

Dwight Howard signing with the Rockets may have been one of the best things to happen to SMU basketball attendance-wise.

hey SID - just a thought. on the top bar of the web site there are several links to various state wide sports teams and organizations - why not get SMU on that list? could link to our athletic web site and also our various fan websites.....we have to invite people to the party if we expect them to come.

That makes too much sense. Our marketing team doesn't like things that make sense.

As a side note, there's no AAC logo listed which I understand since it's such a scattered brand. I just wonder on which one of their regional sites it would actually be on.

I don't think there is any question but that SMU hoops is headed for another "Doc Hayes" type era. I think this year's team will make some noise and if Turner joins Mudiay, Frazier and a strong supporting cast in 2014-2015, I can foresee a deep run into March Madness

Coach Doherty (ironically another former UNC Tarheel) said his vision for SMU was to be the "Duke of Dallas" and I think that is very realistic. Granted, Coach Brown wont be at SMU as long as Coach K has been at Duke, but if he stays another 4 years this program will be rolling and Coach Jank looks to be a strong successor who could enjoy a Coach K type run at SMU.

I understand the talk about trying to lure Mavericks fans if the Mavs go into a down period, but I think being in Dallas and co-existing with the Mavs...who still use our facilities (don't they?)...is actually a plus for the program.

The 1500 will enjoy their seats at Moody...but may have to Pony Up to keep the sightlines they've had for years.

the 1500 were 3500 last year, and will be 5000 this year - perhaps more if we get on a run.

They have a CUSA logo, which I am sure will be replaced with American
