James Cleveland was just named the Fox Sports Net 7 on 7 Tournament MVP after scoring 3 TDs to lead his team to the state championship. This is no small feat as the tournament involves 64 teams. He's already got about 10 offers-probably his stock will rise even higher.

Congratulations, indeed.
Now get yourself to SMU and suit up with your brother. A couple of Cleveland Mustangs could be a potent pair.

Latest Update: His favorites are Iowa, SMU, Missouri, Arizona St and Houston. Wouldn't call Iowa the favorite but said they may be in the lead-his former teamate Drew Tate is an All-American candidate there this year.

You really think he's an all-America candidate? I could see all-Big 10 (although the kid from Michigan seems to be getting a lot of hype, too), but all-America? Seemed like he had a good year .... and a great bowl game.

The current relatives on the team (brothers Bobby and Vincent Chase, cousins Tommy and Ben Poynter) seem to have bright futures (admittedly, that's going on the potential for VC) .... sure would like to see the Clevelands and the Burleys continue that trend.

UPDATE: SMU and Iowa still on top. He has racked up 12 offers so far with more expected.

They've got Cleveland at 34, which is the highest ranked player considering SMU, best as I could tell.

Rivals article indicates that Cleveland received an offer from A$M and is intrigued by them. He will definitely visit them before committing. He notes that SMU's program has been down, which doesn't seem to increase his enthusiasm for us. Hope we can win a few early on to change some opinions!

.....you'll be glad to hear I'm sure that James Cleveland attended the SMU/ Texas A&M debacle in College Station. According to A&M Rivals he listed 4 favorites not including SMU. When he was quoted he referred to us as the "other team" as in A&M beat the "other team" real good. Looks like an A&M Iowa battle to me.

Although I did note that his brother got several touches on Saturday, so perhaps, he'll see that his labors at SMU would be rewarded with playing time.
