Gilbert had 62 attempts last game and only 300 yards to show for it. That's when you know our offense sucks. What baffles me is that Aggy is notorious for bad run d and we don't even bother to run it. Tcu rolls.

Obviously JJ thought it more important to work on the passing game. And we are 62 game reps more experienced. I reckon that will help on Saturday and certainly Rutgers. 300+ yards against a good pass D is not too shabby. We have to sort out the red zone play though. And the penalties. They cost us a lot of drives.

I thought this was an actual game not a practice scrimmage.

True, and I don't think I agree but we were determined to play our game they way we want to going forward rather than try something else. It may also have been decided that sewer emote likely to have success with our passing game... I don't know. I do know we got a lot of reps.

And there in lies one of the most frustrating things about JJ, instead of trying to expose the defense weakness he would rather avoid it.

I agree. But this is life with JJ. I don't think it entitles is to benefit from the turnaround his system makes possible and then give him the shaft when we are done with him. It's not like we are tied to him for life...

June has made us incredibly easy to defend, drop 7/8 back and watch in the incompletions rack up.

I have many questions and concerns, but I feel the need to combat the complete ignorant hysteria on here. It's out of control. I am, at heart, an academic, and it's not hard for me to look at a situation and assess it and understand it. Apparently many on this board cannot say the same.

I want the best for this program and I want this program to be run properly. June does everything his contract requires him to and he does it with professionalism and large dollops of his quirks. I don't like some of the things he has done. I hate the hypocrisy of the Maryland and ASU issues. But the vitriol with which he is treated is totally out of line. This idea that June doesn't care... No one on this board has the slightest clue what he cares about or doesn't. That's just silly. He doesn't lose games when he wants, and win games when he cares. He just executed his job in the same way he always has. He is a maverick. And I wish he had had more success here so far. But there is no justification for 90% of what is written here about him. That is what I can't stand. June Jones has been far more consistent than the fans.

June hasn't delivered the offense he promised and the recruits he expected to land. That's not vitriol, that's an honest performance assessment. I'd be like you being recruited to a University because you were supposedly a widgets expert. You said you were going to write all about widgets and bring prestige to your department. Six years, two mediocre papers in third tier journals later...colleagues are questioning your hire and passion. You don't see the need to work any harder...so you don't.

I'm thinking TCU's offensive line powers up...Patterson's intensity finally gets through to them. With the quarterback situation resolved, there is finally focus and production.
TCU 42
SMU 10

Wasn't Boykin the QB last year in the monsoon? If my memory is correct then the article is flawed and that means SMU wins.

SMU (1-2) at TCU (1-2) Sept. 28, 12:00, Fox Sports 1

Why You Should Give A Hoot: The 93rd chapter of the local rivalry between SMU and TCU features two struggling teams as the backdrop. Under Gary Patterson, the Horned Frogs have traditionally played well following a loss and after an open date. That’s encouraging news, since TCU fell meekly to Texas Tech, 20-10, prior to licking its physical and emotional wounds during the bye week. The Mustangs, like the Frogs, are a game below .500, needing a last-second touchdown to stave off the upset big of Montana State in Week 2. The winner of this game gets the Iron Skillet, a tradition born in 1946.
Why SMU Might Win: TCU misses injured QB Casey Pachall, as evidenced by its No. 93 ranking in total offense. The Frogs have fizzled on third downs, and their play-calling has come under fire. The Mustangs are hoping to turn this into a track meet, the kind of game that makes TCU uncomfortable. SMU will air it out, with Garrett Gilbert looking for Keenan Holman and Darius Joseph, while fingers on the Hilltop are crossed that RB Traylon Shead can return from a knee injury.
Why TCU Might Win: The Horned Frogs have the much better defense, an extra week to prepare and the luxury of returning back to Fort Worth. Patterson will have his D prepared, as he usually does. TCU is particularly stingy against the pass, shutting down opposing receivers with a secondary that’s spearheaded by lockdown corner Jason Verrett and safeties Sam Carter and Elisha Olabode. If SMU labors in the passing game, it’ll have a very hard time extending drives.
Who To Watch Out For: The TCU staff has challenged RB Waymon James, who missed most of 2012 with a knee injury, to play with a little more urgency going forward. B.J. Catalon has been the Frogs’ best back so far, scoring three times on the ground and once on a kick return.

- This is a key game for Horned Frog QB Trevone Boykin, who has not played up to his potential since Pachall went down. Boykin has tremendous physical ability, but has to harness it and do a better job of getting WR Brandon Carter involved in the offense.

- Will star DE Devonte Fields be in the TCU lineup this Saturday afternoon? The Frogs need him to get after Gilbert, but he remains questionable following a foot injury suffered in the Texas Tech loss.

What Will Happen: Two weeks for Patterson is too much time as far as SMU is concerned. The coach will have his kids ready to avenge their Week 3 loss to Texas Tech, suffocating a disjointed Mustangs offense. Boykin & Co. will play their best game of the season, executing with the improved precision needed to reach the end zone on a mediocre opposing defense.
Prediction: TCU 31 … SMU 14
Line: TCU -20 o/u: 52.5
Must See Rating: (5 Rush – 1 Dads) … 2.5

No CP was still the QB. It was his last start.

Well then, I guess we lose. I did just see us win the eating contest on HLN.
