SMU Men's Basketball Will Hold Walk-On Tryouts On Oct. 10 At 6 p.m.
Mustangs Host 2013-14 Tryouts At The Crum Basketball Center

Oct. 4, 2013

DALLAS (SMU) --- The SMU men's basketball (@SMUBasketball) team will host walk-on tryouts on Thursday, Oct. 10, in the Crum Basketball Center at 6 p.m. Head coach Larry Brown (@LarryBrownSMU) and his staff will provide SMU students a chance to be part of the 2013-14 basketball squad.

SMU men's basketball begins its second season under Coach Brown by facing TCU in the Tip-Off Showcase at the American Airlines Center on Nov. 8. The inaugural season in the American Athletic Conference begins at Cincinnati on Jan. 1 followed by SMU's debut in the renovated Moody Coliseum on Saturday, Jan. 4, when the Mustangs host Connecticut.

The $47 million renovation and expansion of Moody Coliseum will be completed in December, so the Mustangs can host all conference games on campus. The renovated Moody Coliseum will provide many new and improved features, including a renovated main entry lobby, expanded concourses with raised ceilings, club seats, loge boxes, private suites, group suites, new event space, offices, team locker rooms and meeting space.

In order to participate in the tryouts, students must have a completed physical and results of a sickle cell solubility test on file, the Walk-on Tryout Form steps 1-4 completed, and the signed Tryout Waiver. Students must also be enrolled at SMU full-time (12-plus hours). If you do not provide these forms or if your physical was done more than 6 months ago you will not be allowed to tryout.

Any student chosen from the tryouts would have to meet all NCAA eligibility requirements to become part of the Mustangs' roster for the season. To register and/or turn in physical forms and class information, contact Katie Cowan in the men's basketball office at [email protected] or 214-768-3501.

I just want them to place a Lazy boy recliner on the sidelines, and I'll be one of Larry's assistant coaches
