Telling people what they should be happy with because they don't have a certain amount of money might be the most SMU thing in this entire thread.

Actually I think you saying we needed the craft beer because only the wealthy could afford season tickets was the "SMU" way. I am saying we should market to every man, not just the wealthy. I was throwing you a bone by offering the craft beer in the suites. In the past only the private suites had access to alcohol. I am trying to give them a benefit for their dollars.

Didn't say they had to be rich. I'm targeting the middle class who moves in from other areas. The rich can buy a box.

You don't have to be rich to desire craft beer, either.

You specifically said a person had to be wealthy enough to buy season tickets. They do not. We need support from more than the wealthy to fill Moody. I would guess a plastic cup of regular old beer is going to cost $7.00. How much you going to charge for the craft? $10.00? We are not Jerryworld. We want a good old family to come, have a beer or two and enjoy a good product on the court. We can take care of the high rollers in the suites.

Wealthy enough does not equal wealthy.

I have $10 to buy a craft beer but I don't have enough money to buy a suite.

Sporting arenas in our own backyard offer craft beer to the masses. Why? Because the masses want that choice.

Even Anheuser-Busch understands that people want craft beer nowadays - they bought Goose Island (out of Chicago) so they could play in the craft beer space.

Telling people that they can't have a beer they can afford solely because they can't afford a suite would be a HUGE mistake.

No, you are saying we should market to people who understand that they should be happy with mass-produced beer because they can't afford a suite.

I am saying that we should market to everyone, including those who would like craft beer, regardless of their ability to afford a suite. I propose that we focus on a specific segment of the market in order to make our marketing successful. I want people who will buy season tickets.

I want people that want to go to a basketball game not a beer tasting soirée.

No, you saying " I, for one, won't drink beer if the only options are Miller Lite/Bud' is the most SMU thing in this thread. We should have a mani and pedi kiosk too

No, I'm good with Bud. Not Miller, though. I have friends who work at A-B

And those people want craft beer. Unlike you, I see no gain from limiting choice.

Who cares, just slam it, buy another, and yell obscenities at the opposing bench. There is nothing dumber and more hipster in all of america than the IPA craze.

IPAs suck. Dark beers FTW.

Hipsters are the low-hanging fruit right now in terms of getting butts-in-seats. But we also need Bud products for people who don't want to pay an additional $3-$5 a glass for a craft beer. We need all of those people if we are going to sell Moody out regularly.

A little change of subject. Heard former Arkansas QB Matt Jones and his group on a sports talk show laughing about our move to sell beer. The humor was based on the statement it would increase attendance and cut down on binge drinking. I kind of agree. I do not think it will stop a binge drinker from binge drinking and I am not sold on increased attendance. May help BB more than FB.

But I will be interested to hear their take when they have the same issue. I do not believe they sell beer at their venues although I could be wrong.

Most humorous was a caller, and you had to hear his banjo playing accent to appreciate it, who said, "About that SMU stuff. I don't go nowhere that don't have beer. Maybe Razorback games or church, but nowhere else."

The fact that they are talking about it in Arkyland makes this the biggest off-field attention-getter we have had since the Mudiay commitment.

The publicity will help us.
