They did do the running clock in the second half and as the coach of Aledo said, he is not going to tell his players not to play hard. That is how kids get hurt. They could have stopped the game, but to me that is even a worse insult than losing by a big margin.

First off, did you read the article? At all??? You'd know there was a running clock and that the coach started taking his starters out at the end of the first quarter.

Second, Let's apply the same logic to the corporate world shall we. When google's stock price got to $500, they probably should have done something to slow their growth and profits because it's not fair to all the other companies who aren't doing as well. Fire all your execs and tell the new guys that you bring in to stop innovating and to not try. it's really important that these new people don't do their best so as not to hurt anyone else's feelings and not do well for themselves because then google will do better. Why would you want your new team members to gain any kind of experience or confidence later on? That's right because in this scenario, it's not nice to beat your competition and strive for anything other being average so long as everyone gets a ribbon.

How are you supposed to tell those 3rd stringers that when they finally get into a game, they're not supposed to try? What kind of backasswards logic is that??? Yay! it's just like June you guys! Embrace mediocrity and don't do your best!!!

I would never tell a 3rd team player who is begging to play to go out and take a knee. That would be so unfair to those players. If I decided as a coach to just take a knee, which I personally would never do, I would put the first team back in to do so.

It's not fair to tell kids who rarely get to play and bust it everyday in practice to take a knee in a game when they finally get to play. I'm sorry, if you're not able to stop another team's 3rd string you really have bigger issues. If Aledo still had its 1st string and they were throwing this parent would have a legit argument. Based on what I've read, the Aledo coaches did nothing wrong.

I agree and I guess some of us should not complain or hate on UH for putting 95 points on SMU anymore either.

It was just as embarrassing seeing the Notre Dame players running out of bounds on purpose when we played them in that 89 season.

So are we at the point in time with the disparity in teams and support that we should do like six-man football? Just end the game when one team gets up by 45? Aledo could have scored 150 points if they wanted to. The Fort Worth ISD and the UIL is to blame. Only Dunbar has a good team and they have the lowest enrollment and should be in 3A. Because of Dunbars request to to stay in 4A it is causing all of the 4A teams in Fort Worth ISD to be split up into two districts and play strong suburban programs that have huge advantages in facilities, workouts, athletic periods and coaching. If they were in the same district it would be better except Dunbar would be beating everyone by 50. Way to go Dunbar.... and they don't have 5000 kids like Dallas Skyline.

The deal with Houston was tossing bombs every other play. Still not bullying, just asshattery.

And I recall it was not their 3rd team but rather many starters trying purposely to get to 100.

What score would the parent think its just good old fashion blowout? Had the score been a mere 70-0, would that be OK? Or 50-0? What about 34-3? What criteria crosses the line?

The best thing is to find out who the parent is and humiliate them. I remember when Tanya Harding kicked her boyfriend's butt and he made a complaint. Some news guy asked him (on camera), how it felt to have his arse kicked by a girl? The guy was humiliated.

You guys are fine with this but cry that we beat you 95-21. The hypocrisy is strong.

You can only do some much in the name of sportsmanship, which I feel is also a lesson to be taught at any level ... certainly HS. I've been known to plant a fastball in someones ribcage, play a few steps past the whistle for violating the code of etiquette. So learning a little respect for your competition is OK. But, it appears the coaches at Aledo did just that.

1) Telling kids to go easy only increases the risk of injury
2) Telling them to take a knee, get hit and fall down etc. Only serves to humiliate and embarrass your opponent further ... then you may have a bullying argument (but doubtful)
3) And yes, those 3rd teamers bust their [deleted] all week to prepare the 1st team in hopes of big "W" and a chance to get in the game ... you are going tell them sorry kid ... no way.

It's sports, it's life ... and sometimes this chit happens. No doubt the "Everyone gets a participation ribbon" world we live in fuels this mind-set further.

There's a difference between bullying/running the score up and playing the game. Just like you always do you ignore what has been said. The issue was naming rights to the action. Bullying- Not necessarily. Playing the game- Yes. UH and their coach decided to drop bombs all day. Were they bullies? Maybe, maybe not. Were they asshats? Sure. Go get Binky and jack off to the Cage the [deleted] picture some more.

Besides, that group of freshman they ran the score up on beat UH as seniors so I'm more miffed about the rice 140-3 or whatever it was in the 1920s.
