You can complain about the product on the field all you want but staying away from the games in droves only makes matters worse.

If you own a failing restaurant, step one is to fix the food. You don't nag people for not eating there and blame them because the empty dining room is driving people away.

You're asking for a full dining room when we're serving frozen pizza.

SMU has asked too much of us already. Seriously. Those of us that have watched this crap for decades deserve zero reproach. SMU isn't contecting with the casual fan and that's its own fault. Stop blaming fans for putting out a product that is painful to watch.

It's fitting that one of the most incredible offensive performances in our history was accompanied by what might surely be one of the worst defensive performances I've ever seen.

Sheesh...we had 700 yards of offense. So everyone's mad that we looked bad in the first half (plus the usual)? Our defense does have no depth. Without Pope and even Greenbauer, we suffer.

The defense was Jekyll and Hyde today, sometimes they were all over it like a rash and them they would just go AWOL. I have never seen an opponent as open as that chap in the end zone all alone. Hard to watch.

If you are referring to the infamous Christmas Eve meeting with RGT, JJ, and SO, you know better than that.

If you think this is a turd product, where were you 1989-2008? If this was the team we had while I was there, I'd be first in line to get in. 59 points and 600 yards offense?!? Are you kidding me? Not exciting?!? We got beat by Baylor one year when they never threw a single freakin' pass! Literally. They ran the ball EVERY play and beat our [deleted]. This team just lit up the score board with 59 points, GG playing like a Heisman candidate and it's a turd product? All of you complaining are either in school or are recent alums (quit your whining or [deleted] off) or old-timers used to a championship-caliber team (if so God bless you, you can complain). The rest of us, I'm assuming, are not extremely happy but at least know we are no where NEAR where we used to be post-DP and that is a very good thing.

And if we were top 25 and winning 9-10 wins / season, our snobby [deleted] students STILL wouldn't come. It's the culture of the place. We have to somehow market to the locals. The students will come LAST and come in small amounts and will jump on the bandwagon MAYBE and only AFTER the fact.

Now, back to Xs and Os, I think our defense really hurt without Pope. I saw Yenga get blocked very thoroughly on many run plays. I just don't see him as an inside linebacker. Those guys have to be stout. And, as athletic as he is, he is not an inside linebacker -- unless he puts on another 20 pounds then maybe . .

Yeah, June mentioned that in his postgame Q&A. Yenga was definitely better back when he was playing outside.

I've been watching SMU since I started as a student in 2002; and yes I'd call todaus game a turd product. Yes, Gilbert had surreal video game numbers but you were only treated to that delight if you had the fortitude to sit through the mind-blowingly bad defense I've ever seen (yes, I'm even reaching back into my memory to the Bennett years) and an mistake-prone and undisiplined looking offense for three whole quarters. Against one of the worst teams on America.

Some of you are bottom-line guys. We won, not matter how we did so. Gilbert is great, clearly one of the best QBs in the nation. We still are on track to make a BCS bowl. If you only look at the box score, I can see why you don't understand why fans aren't coming out in droves. If you actually sit through the games you see a team with little fundamentals, most undiciplined, mistake-prone, has huge talent gaps at key positions, struggles with consistency. Fans were miserable for 3Qs. My families around me were incredulous at how bad we were.

In fairness, I felt that we turned it around before halftime. The last possession of the first half and the first (and only save the taking a knee possession) 7 drives of the second half resulted in 7 touchdowns and one field goal. I don't think it's fair to say that the O was awful for 3 quarters. The D was wildly inconsistent for all 4!

He just moved up to the Hall of Champions where he watched the rest of the game with some teammates.

Whoops I meant to say he left the field at the half, which is where I was at the time.

If JJ is such a great coach and we have such a great team, then why today's attendance?
