We beat USF and UConn. Cincinnati is iffy. Houston and UCF are gone.
Long live Inez Perez!

most seem to agree it will come down to whether or not we beat Cinci. I know USF and UConn are not a given, but I feel pretty strongly we can win them. Lose to Cinci though an there is no chance.

5-7 is likely because I think we will beat USF and UCONN, but I am still hopeful and think we can beat Cincinnati in 2 weeks. If Houston or UCF are out of the conference race by the time we play them then we might have a chance against them. 6-6 is my hopeful prediction.

6-1 Houston (L to 6-2 BYU who beat Texas, and only lost a weird one to UVa). With what looks like absolutely horrid UCONN and USF, we are at 5 wins. That leaves Cincy, Houston, UCF. The split has to come from Cincy or Houston (2 weeks to prepare for Cincy, back to back road games vs. Houston). We've had Houston's number lately. Let's assume we win one or the other, we are 6-5 going into UCF at home. Can we win that one if we are good enough to be 6-5? dunno, wishful thinking, maybe we start to click on D and O at the same time.

Houston isn't that good...6-1 and should have beaten a pretty decent BYU team. Dunno how good BYU is, beat the hell out of TX but lost to UVa, lost to UTAH. Does this impress you? I see us winning 2-3 more, but our defense is going to have to step it up and we have to eliminate the dumb plays (and we need to do a MUCH better job of creating turnovers - try to strip the ball at every opportunity). With Greenbauer and Pope out, our defense is really hurting (I have no idea what we're going to do with inside linebackers next year). If I were betting I say we finish with 5 wins, although I think 7 is possible. We're going to beat SMU down like it's 1989 again. Lol, how is that an ouch when we won those games? Especially when winning those games have an influence on whether or not we potentially play in a BCS bowl? Winning 31-30 over FCS Montana State is an ouch. Having a shootout with Rutgers and Temple is an ouch. Getting manhandled by A$M, TCU, and Tech is an ouch. Running away from Baylor because you're scared is an ouch. Need I keep going?

Lot of fake wins there but we've been shredded a few times already by teams with worse talent. Not to mention that we're a pretty lousy road team and have only won against them down there since the DP.

I think 6-6 and would be a great achievement and I think that Cincy is the make or break. USF and UConn are games that we should win (and of course may not).
UH and UCF are really interesting to me. We put 72 points up in UH last year but didn't really put them away until late. Our D scored a bunch of the points (28 I think). The way I see it, the fact that it is in Houston gives them a huge advantage. If it were at Ford I would give us a real chance. They are obviously executing well on both sides of the ball, but I don't know if they can stop our O. To be honest I don't know if anyone left on the schedule can stop us, if we keep going the way we are. One great quarter against Rutgers. Two great quarters against Memphis. Closer to three against Temple. We are moving closer to a full game than away from it. If our o plays great for longer the d is on the field less and our lack of depth on defense will matter less.
I have said it before, but I think the best thing that could happen to SMU football at the moment would be to host UCF in a season finale for all the chips.

This is scary. I am In complete agreement. Cincy is now the key.

We'll probably have 10K on hand for our biggest post DP game.

I don't think so, but SMU has proven me wrong a lot at the end of a season

So I challenge all of you who whine about attendance constantly: Who is going to Cincinnati for this semi-must win game? Great fans for great teams travel. I am bemused by our Dallas based fans who make excuses for not going to A&M etc. I make it to Dallas from Houston for nearly every game. We will be in Cincy. We have made all but one bowl game. Attend games or get off the pot.

You need to brush up on your math, history or both. Since when is 2005 not in the last 10 years? Cougar King wrote:Especially when winning those games have an influence on whether or not we potentially play in a BCS bowl?
UH in a BCS bowl? Thanks for the laugh! Cougar King wrote:Getting manhandled by A$M, TCU, and Tech is an ouch.
All three of those teams are far better than any team UH has played so far this year. Come back when UH has played an opponent on the level of those three.

Well excuuuuuuuuuuse me, you beat us TWICE in the last 10 years. CA Mustang wrote:UH in a BCS bowl? Thanks for the laugh!
We're arguably the best team in the AAC and just may win the conference to get the BCS spot with two true freshmen qbs who alternate. SMU has almost no chance. SMU has nobody to blame but themselves on that one.
