Like I said in another post, we are probably about a 500 team given our conference this year. Now, next year and add Turner, we are a tourney team (that could even make a little noise). But, I think this year we are an NIT team at best. And it is a HUGE improvement! (if we were in the old CUSA, I'd say we get to 20 wins easy but this is the Big12 of basketball and a completely different ballgame). It will take consistent elite recruiting to even compete in our conference, which is exactly what these guys are doing. It's a breath of fresh air, no doubt. It is also absolutely necessary to not be a bottom dweller.

The key will be to not let Louisville, Memphis, Connecticut and Cincinnati represent 8 loses. No way we split those, but we need to find 2 wins in those games. We can then find at least 8-9 wins from our other games to go with 9-10 OCC wins. Also need to finish no lower then 5th so that the conference tournament doesn't pair us against the top four teams in game one of AAC tourney.

The Cincinnati games and Memphis at home are big. Those are key tournament/no tournament games.

Also important - we don't have room in our schedule for a stupid loss in the preseason. We use to specialize in those. We will need every win in OCC games.

I think if these guys gel early, they can win 20 games this year. My worst case scenario is somewhere near .500 and a losing record in conference play. I agree with the earlier comment that we cant be swept by Louisville, Memphis, UConn and Cincy for 8 losses right out of the gate. Hopefully the new Moody will immediately become a very difficult place for any opponent to come in and steal a W

After watching UC struggle mightily yesterday against Division 2 Bellarmine, I think that UC is going to somewhat inconsistent this year. I wouldn't be surprised if we beat them. Since we are playing them on New Years Day in Cinci they aren't going to have the big student section like they usually have giving them momentum.
