With regard to the Conference. Memphis, UConn and Temple are here for two reasons: (1) They have great hoops programs and part of our TV contract is going to come from hoops. (2) Temple is in Philly and UConn outside NYC. This gives us the ability to compete with any other conference for viewership. People in the northeast will be watching the ACC and the Big Ten. Games like Temple /U Conn may not mean much to us, but in the northeast, those a games worth watching especially if we get some games like a home and home with Maryland and Temple or Rutgers /UConn or Syracuse / UConn.

You're "evidence" for saying the AAC will become a power conference is completely laughable. The Old Big East wasn't even really a power conference after Miami, Va Tech and BC bolted to the ACC. Outside of WVU, no one was very good. The first BCS buster came at the hands of Pitt who got destroyed by Utah 42-7. How does that happen to a power conference champion?

Remember how badly Cincinnati got destroyed when they played Florida in the Sugar Bowl? Everyone not living under a rock knew Florida was going to bend them over harder than what Shaq would do to Justin Bieber in a prison shower. They were supposed to be the #3 team in the country ?

My point is, this conference has not been good for some time and now it is in a much worse position, with fewer resources, less eyeballs, and a worse perception. This is not a power conference and I don't anticipate it becoming one. I think Aresco puts it in about the best way possible that it a "challenger conference".

I think it can be what the Mountain West was before Utah, TCU and BYU all bolted, which is a solid conference that can win games and be a pest, but not with enough depth across the board to ever warrant serious consideration for actually being one of the big boys. And maybe, just like Utah, TCU and BYU did, the successful teams in this conference can use that success to move on to bigger and better things.

Ok so it might not become a power conference due to some clear issues, but it could serve as a stepping stone for our program to be successful and jump to a bigger and better conference.
